While watching the video in class, “White Bear” you get a lot of mixed emotions and it really does flip the script at the end of the episode. When she first arose from the bed she looked like she had been on drugs and looks lost. The same logo and weird eerie sound are coming from the T.V. in the living room and the bedroom. And after watching the whole movie through, why did they have the logo playing in the living room if she was in the bedroom at night. She goes outside to try and see if someone can help her figure out what is going on because she does not recognize anything or even who she is. But everyone won’t stop recording her and moving away when she got closer. Even when she was being chased by a masked gunman, no one helped her. When she first see’s the masked gunman she gets a “digital flashback” and doesn’t seem to understand why.
When she finds someone “normal” and willing to help her she starts to say more about her situation and you learn why everyone is recording and what that does for the people in the masks chasing after them. They hitch a ride with someone in a van who says he’s going to save them. But he does the opposite, of course. They escape the man by shooting him with hos won shotgun and stealing his van. After finally making it to White Bear they find the control room and attempt to burn the place down till they are stopped back the masked people. When the main character gets a shotgun and attempts to kill who she thinks is bad only confetti comes out and the back of the room opens up.
I felt very lost and freaked out, I was feeling as if I was lied to for 30 minutes just to be forced to sympathize for her and be on her side. Till the Host showed the news clip of her and you learn what was really happening my emotions immediately changed towards her and thought she deserved what had been happening to her though this whole film. They take her back to her house later that night and make her watch the video she recoded of her child being tortured and be shocked on the temples till she passed out. They man marks another day on the calendar just to show that they have been doing this for weeks now.
In my personal opinion I think this is a good way to give equal punishment for the crime but to really prolong the effects of torture and rehabilitation she needs time to think about what she has done, then make her experience the same thing the little girl did at a random time when she is not expecting it. But by wiping her memory every night is really redundant unless you are just trying to capitalize on the suffering instead of actually doing some beneficial.
it was good *thumbs up*
ReplyDeleteI felt that same way! The emotions were to all over the place that I did not know what I was feeling. It was weird how I thought that it was okay but deep down I know it is not the right way to go about it and the fact that they wiped her mind was something that I think that they could have gone with out and did something different.
