Extreme Torture or Punishment?...

After watching the film "White Bear" from the series Black Mirror I was extremely appalled and shocked. The film starts with a woman waking up being unfamiliar with everything. She seemed lost and confused about where she is and who she was as if she had lost her memory. As the woman goes outside she began to get chased by a man who is trying to shoot her. While she is running for her life she noticed that all the other bystanders where just watching and recording. Growing angrily and confused she yells why are they just watching. She then ran into two others who seem to be just like her. They helped her get away from the other antagonists. It seemed as if the other people were hypnotized by something on their phone, but as the films continues the audience learn that it was all a setup.
In the beginning, we view the woman as the victim and the only sane person who is tries to get away from the brainwashed world. Unknowingly, we find out that the woman is actually the bad guy who gets what she deserves. We learn that she witnessed and filmed her husband brutally beat and kill her a little girl. Every day the woman wakes up with no memory and gets tortured throughout the day while others watch and record. There are actors and bystanders all in the plan to penalized this woman so that she may relive what she had did to the young girl.
Now seeing this made me feel that this was gone too far to penalize someone. My thoughts were how could someone willingly everyday torture someone without no remorse. In fact, I also felt that the punishment had no meaning behind it. The lady just constantly gets tortured and then they erases her memory and does it all over again. Its like she experience this for the first time over and over again making it senseless if she doesn't remember what she had done. Also, we are all human, and I don’t think that gives one person the upper hand to makes this woman life hell for the rest of her life. Don’t get me wrong, there should be consequences for one’s action, but that is what the correctional institutions are for. And as an audience for the White Bear Justice Park, that makes them just as worse as her. They are basically doing the exact same thing that she did which makes them just as bad. I couldn’t sit and watch someone get tortured like that, its inhumane and wrongful. I feel like as human beings we should stay in our place and let God handle the wrong doings of others. We are just as wrong if we kill them off or even torture them to death.
