Tooters Project

Tooters is a service meant to work alongside the increased educational standards in public schools via Common Core, No Child Left Behind, and standardized testing. Simply increasing the standards will not will fix our academic deficit. Mandating more standardized testing does not yield positive results in students, but instead leads to the creation of robots who lack creativity, critical thinking, and improvisational skills, among other things.

Our app offers a solution to the aforementioned issues. Tooters provides students at-home assistance with the increased standards impressed upon them by the public education system. We are a relatively cheap tutoring service that utilizes GPS systems to bring tutors to our students' homes. The goal is for our tutors to give students more academic exposure, teaching them material that they would not have access to in the classroom; this is to be done through atypical teaching methods, such as play, which would provide students a more hands-on educational experience, and ultimately foster skills of creativity and self-autonomy, among others.

The Tooter's Creed is:

T: Teaching without judgement

O: Optimizing learning materials

O: Obtaining a better education

T: Tackling subjects from unconventional angles

E: Exposing students to subjects outside of the classroom

R: Reaching out to those in need of academic assistance

S: Serving all students' educational needs

I think this app would definitely help generate enthusiasm with students. I think it would also cause them to become more understanding of maybe why they need to learn a specific subject, that they might not think they will need.
