Expecting 101 Review

The expecting 101 app is an app that needs to go into development. The app has a lot of potential and I believe the app would benefit many underage pregnancies. I believe the app would be extremely useful for many young girls who become pregnant and sometimes do not know exactly what to expect.  I think this app would be beneficial to those mothers who are uninsured and are unable to visit a primary doctor regularly. This app will ease some confusion and help them throughout their pregnancy.

The “Doctors Near Me” option can be incredibly helpful. I believe with the addition of a section for “signs of delivery” or something between those lines, could impact the delivery greatly. One example where these two sections could be useful if a mother is experiencing some kind of discomfort or what appears to be signs of delivery before the expected due date, I think that particular section could help inform the mother if it is recommended to go to the hospital or recommended to visit a physician.  I think adding a section on “signs of delivery” is extremely important because many first time mothers would not know what to expect and this app would definitely be of great use.

One modification I would add to the video section of the app would be adding videos based on the pregnancy week. I believe the videos would help visualize how the fetus is developing and it would help the mother understand changes happening to her body.

The idea behind the app has immense potential to expand their target audience. I believe the app creators could develop a follow-up app to help first time mothers post-delivery.  The app could inform the first time mothers of some of the responsibilities that come with motherhood.

The idea of being able to conduct your own ultrasound seems an unrealistic with the current technology available to the public but I do not think it is impossible. As our technology continues to advance, the idea of being able to conduct your own ultrasounds sounds promising. However, I do not think this app can replace the periodic ultrasounds performed by medical professionals but the ability to conduct your own ultrasound makes the app more appealing.

Overall, this app would inform first time mothers what to expect when expecting. The app would defiantly be helpful to thousands of mothers who do know much about pregnancies. After a couple of tweaks, this app has the ability to become a high-downloaded app and will diffidently appeal to the app’s target audience.  

The Importance of being informed

Accurate knowledge is a very important thing to be aware of, especially when one’s body is undergoing the brunt of pregnancy. Being able to successfully care for yourself and the developing human inside will forever maintain relevance in human society. This is the only way humanity can grow in numbers, by healthily undergoing this process and raising the result of it. It is also important to care for the mothers, postpartum depression, birth complications, and other maladies can affect women who just gave birth. This branch of health seems very complicated to many, and few people know accurate information about it. The app presented by the group of Expecting 101 seeks to be this reliable source of information. Many myths are common in people’s perception of pregnancy, everyone has their own old wife’s tales in relation to this matter. I feel that it is important to be able to know better than that. To go beyond and question the information initially provided. Myths like alcohol consumption during pregnancy (which is not recommended by any medical governing body and should be avoided under any circumstance), or how important flu shots are during pregnancy (they are very important), and many other myths that are commonly held by people. This app would then be the solution to this lack of knowledge, and would prove beneficial to many different people from diverse backgrounds. It is also quite common for men to not be aware of valuable information about pregnancy. Which isn’t new information, men are commonly ignorant of several biological processes experienced by women. Mostly because we never have to experience them, leading to less interest in the matter, which frankly should not be the case. And while the app cannot completely mediate the issue, it gives lots of useful information. The app’s helpful information is not limited to the knowledge it can directly give, but also can direct people to professionals who dedicate their careers to this field. Ultimately giving the most accurate diagnosis in relations to each individual case. The group behind the app offered a good presentation, with each group member being enthused about the topic of their project. Which was helpful to the point they were trying to make. This information should not be restricted to the usual format for this information (boring presentations with people uninterested in the topic) but with people who see importance in relaying knowledge in an entertaining way.

This app is designed to inform women who are pregnant about different things to know about being pregnant. Included in the app, the viewer can create a profile to share with other pregnant women, see ultrasound pictures of her baby, watch educational videos, receive daily fun facts, and know what doctors and pharmacies are near in case of an emergency. We want women who do not have the finances or resources for healthcare to be informed about the things that happen while being pregnant in order to prevent certain birth defects and complications that may arise during birth.
