Group Me & Second Win

The first group that presented introduced their site entitled Group Me. The purpose behind it is to help people to get to know the people they are working with as well as the progression of certain projects that could be taking place. It's overall a good idea and the options that are provided on the website is a creative way of understanding the group as a whole. People can learn about each other's working habits or share their ideas on the topic page. New topics can be added by the members of the website, and better yet, these could be topics that are recycled. They could possibly be used as an exemplar if someone needs something to use as a guide of they need an idea. As for the method of how the presentation was executed, I enjoyed how interactive it was and the subtle humorous banter that was sprinkled into it. The group managed to effectively keep my attention all throughout and had me engage in a worksheet. I believe that this project is perfect for real-world examples outside of school. For example, say that there is this major campaign that needs to be done for work. Group Me could be used so that those working together on the project can learn about the people they are working with, their working habits, and how the campaign is coming along. It’s also been mentioned that this could be beneficial for communication skills ( especially for people who are introverted). This allows others to break out of their shell and become more confident in themselves as well. I kind of wish that this program a long time ago.

As for the second group, their project was called Second Win which was about giving the homeless a second chance to re-enter society. This program gives people the ability to get themselves back on their feet and start anew. There is even a point system that is implemented so that the organization can keep track of how much you’ve been participating in these activities. Points can be earned or taken away in the process; however, if someone reaches zero points, then they are automatically kicked out of the program without warning. The lack of a consecutive attendance also determines whether or not if someone even has the ability to even make it to work. In addition to what else Second Win could offer, they have volunteer opportunities for grooming and cosmetics that would help the homeless look presentable in front of business employers. I think that everything has been put into account when it came to what could possibly be needed. However, Prof. J. has mentioned the lack of a housing within the presentation, and I’d have to agree with that. If the homeless didn’t have a place to stay, it would be hard for them to maintain themselves let alone get and keep a job. When the program gets into a partnership with various other organizations, maybe they may earn fundings in the process to receive funding.

CBU Cohered

In the society we live in, it is very hard for us to connect on a social level especially with all of the technology we have. The reason being because people prefer to socialize via social media platforms such as: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr, Pinterest, Oovoo, and Yelp. This has been disadvantageous to our society because relationships are weakened and even could be potentially broken. Additionally, in our society we live in, people don't ask for help when socializing through the internet. When this occurs, it makes it harder for us to communicate. This is disastrous in all because communication is what keeps us moving that being through: government, politics, medicine, business, and even entertainment. A lack of communication is what has led to violence, corruption, atrocity, and disdain. Therefore, with the CBU Cohesion App, I believe you all will be able to connect the students at CBU a lot better.

I believe your app is a really good ideal because it works as an extension to the CBU Connect. It has additives such as: calendars, upcoming events, campus safety, news, and professor directory. The app adds a fun addition to the goal of y'all mission, and that is to connect the students here at CBU. The app looks very fun to use because it adds more creativity in terms that it allows students to do more than just stay informed on the events at CBU. It allows us to do everything from upload photos to its very own professor directory. I believe students here can very much benefit from this app mainly because it gives them options.

I also believe that this app is very universal in the sense that many people utilized this ideal. We have the CBU Connection site where students can stay informed on current news here on campus. Students can know the results on sporting events, students can email their professors, sign up for events on campus, and even access campus safety, if need be. CBU also has a Facebook page where students can "like" to stay informed and even read posts from professors and other students. People can access this information from the convenience of their phone which makes I easier for students to stay in close contact.

Dream Catcher Bracelet Review

The Dream Catcher Bracelet was a concept that I enjoyed and thought would be really useful in our society. It aims to help those who suffer from traumatic disorders such as PTSD or night terrors. The bracelet is meant to monitor stress levels and sleep patterns. It also monitors and records your heart rate. If something unusual is happening to your body the bracelet is designed to either vibrate, call an emergency contact, or sound on alarm using the app it is built in to. They also have it to where if you have a dog they could wear their specially designed dog collar that would allow your companion to wake you up if in distress. They also have the option where parents can link up their bracelets to their children who are suffering from night terrors. It does not have to be parent and child either, it can also be spouses or roommates.

Even though the app could use a couple improvements, I think they got a lot of useful things included. For instance you can disable emergency contacts, adjust the vibrations on the bracelet and set an alarm. I admire how it is able to send your information it recorded to your doctor so they can know what been really going on with you. I like the facts that they included because it provided me information on things I would have never believed. I thought it was cool that they included a dog collar into their concepts since a lot of people actually do have dogs that could help them out. I believe that many people would use this if they were limited on resources that could really help benefit their loved ones lives.

Review on Politigo

Even though the thought of politics bores me, I was actually intrigued by the last group's presentation app called Politigo. It is an app created for Americans to stay in touch with our political system and give us unbiased news. This app was designed to provide accurate data on politicians so that us Americans can see who we have similar views with. It provides information on current candidates and where their views on current issues our country is more worried about like abortion and the death penalty. They also include what is called a Politigo quiz. This allows us to take a quiz that shows us what candidates have similar views as us and also which party we migrate more to.

This app is really beneficial for us young voters, especially college students, who may not have the time to focus on our political system like they would like to. I like this app because I think it can really provide better facts for us young voters. A lot of us, like myself, are misinformed or do not really know what is going on in our political system. We vote for reasons that may not be fit for our country without actually realizing what our politicians goals really are. I believe this app would have been really great for our recent election since it showed many people not voting, I think a lot of people, including myself, did not vote because we did not understand what was really going on in our political system truly. We got a lot of our information from social media which was not enough to go on for most people. This app would be beneficial in providing unbiased news to help us voters really figure out who to vote for.

I would personally use this app to get more into politics since it does benefit my life and my country. I also think a lot people would use this app to their own benefit also. I really liked how this app provided us information on where candidates stood on different issues and the quiz you could take to see whom you were more similar to. I especially like the quiz because unlike other quizzes you can take online to find the same information this app actually tells you exactly how you are more like a certain party and etc. As discussed in class, one thing they could improve on is making the app more local as in having candidates who are running for mayor or governor. It was also questionable how the would be able to have unbiased news because that seemed sort of impossible. All in all I thought this was a really good concept and something that could actually work as a good app that would provide a lot of information for electorates.

Review For Deviants R Us

Deviants R Us was definitely in my own and personal opinion the absolute most creative presentation. I would have never thought about creating a website and app where people who are seen as “weird” and might even feel singled out could all get together and share common interests. While no one might understand them they will find comfort in the people who love what they love. Also from watching the videos it was very obvious that these subculture groups are being ridiculed for having an interest and liking for something in particular. They aren’t only being made fun of by the press but they are being violently and physically attacked as well.
I am not going to lie it was sad for me to see the news reporters laughing at the presented subcultures. Firstly because I had friends in high school who were Bronies and they were some of the nicest down to earth people I ever knew and I would be infuriated if someone made fun of them in my presence just for liking the show My Little Pony. When someone makes fun of anyone for something they like or are interested in it break my heart because they are just like everyone and anyone else jus that they are interested in something that is less common. I think that their choice of subcultures to present was nice because they choose some that might have been common and some that I had never heard of like Furry fandom.

I thought it was good for them to have very detail explanation as to how they would keep their website interactions secure. I also like how easy it would be to work the app and even how these people can meet up in a very secure and safe way. With the whole meeting up with people and chatting some good and serious questions were raised after the presentation.

Someone is class asked would they include Skinheads on the website and app so that they can interact and socialize. This brought up another good question, would they allow violent or law breaking subcultures for example graffiti artist to partake in their website and app. The group had a hard time responding to this question, but eventually they agreed that they would not put any subculture that would harm them selves, others, or break laws.

I thought about some other subcultures they could add to their website and app they are as followed: Bikers, Drag Queens, Bohemianism, and Hippies. Over all this was a very creative project that was well developed and presented.

Review for Save A Kid

Out of all the projects presented in the 10am section I think these ladies did a project that had actual gadgets other than just a website or an app which they also had. When they first began to present I had no idea where they were going but after watching that sad video of the child being left in the car I kind of began to imagine that they would make a gadget to fix that problem. I also hear of one or two stories a summer of a baby dying from being left in a car during the extremely hot summer days. Although their statistics only showed there to be 37 infant death a year from being left in a trapped car and that number might not seem like much I still think it’s a lot of children. The gadget/ device that they created to but on the car seat was very ingenious I do not think I could have ever come up with something so creative. I like that it detected body heat, but also if it was already really hot in the car how would they get it from ringing on the mom’s/dad’s if there was no child in the car seat but it was hot so the device detected heat and sounded off the alarm?

“90% of families are affected by a child wandering off” this is a HUGE number!! I personally work with children almost everyday as a babysitter and I can agree with this statement from year of babysitting the kids I have babysat have at one point or another wandered off and not because I did something wrong, but simply because kids are quick and small and can sometimes be unnoticed. I myself wandered off from my mom when I was a toddler and of course she almost had a heart attack when she couldn’t find me. I think that id she would have had one of these bracelets on me as a kid then she would have been a little more at peace if I had wandered off. I know for sure that as a babysitter having a gadget like this would change everything and it would allow me to have a piece of mind.

Overall I saw little to noting wrong with their invention. I thought it was not only creative, but also that it helps to combat and fix a huge issue of children being forgotten inside car and also for wandering children. I think they did a great job not only with their idea, but also with their presentation.

sos review

In my philosophy  a group presented an app for the society name SOS. The project SOS was such an interesting thing I heard about. I would use it in my daily routine. The presenters was very formal and persuasive about their project. I have always found gardens pretty and wanted to do one for myself and for them to create an app to help me with the steps to get one started was a good idea. In addition to that they have reminders for when to water the garden and by me being busy person that will come in handy. I don’t drive to school but the idea they have to have friends nearby car pull was something that is useful it saves gas and protect the earth. No everyone is interested in such things as energy saving but the facts the group gave was facts we should look into to persuade our minds to help with saving earth.

SOS can be very useful at homes because when people are rushing they forget to turn off the lights and other things around the house so, with the app they could do it then without having to drive all the way back home and be late.  If all it take as a button on the phone to cut it off people want have no problem with using the app.

The only problem I have with SOS is that they mentioned how they can hack into our phones and be connected with everything we do. That is invading privacy if they could not be able to hack everything and just certain things I would not have an issue. My privacy is just something I take series and concerns me. I also wants to know how they would know if lights are still on do we have to purchase camera or motion sensors to detect if the light is still on. Other than that the project was presented well and a good idea and is something I can see people worldwide using who really care about the society and they can start a movement to help  push the issue that is going on so we want harm the society but build it up before it is too late. The earth is an important thing we have to protect and not only is it protecting earth they are helping people live heathy by providing them with the right foods to choice. Heath is important to live a good life.

Homeless Project Review

The idea of decreasing the amount of homeless people there are seem so optimistic that, at first, I thought it was extremely unrealistic. However, as I continued to listen to and see their presentation, I loved the idea. It was a great approach. Honestly, even if it wasn't realistic, it was worth the effort. To me, any act such as theirs, that sees need and creates a plan of action to help those in need, is worth attention and effort.
Their program would, theoretically, give a source of stability to homeless families and individuals. I come from a background where I've never been homeless, per-say, but i haven't always had the sense of "home" and stability as I do now so I connected with this project a lot. It means everything to give a child a place to call home even if it's only for a few months. Their foundation is an insanely positive one that, in my opinion, should actually some-how come to reality. It's a necessity.
Though it was an awfully positive idea, like many ideas in the beginning, there were a few things that could be tweaked to make it better. Fr example, instead of the residents only being allowed to stay for one month, it should be three months. Three months would give them enough time to job-search, home-search, and get their first few checks. Also, I don't think that adults that don't apply to the program with families should be allowed a single-home. Single, compatible adults should be roommates so the most people can be removed from the streets as possible. The questionnaire was also a bit of a problem that came up in class. In my opinion, it should be more extensive and not as direct as the one question addressing drug addiction.
Back to my main point, the service being performed in order to help homeless people is great. The thoughtfulness and generosity behind it is stunning. The program would give them a sense of responsibility and treat them as actual functional citizens instead of charity cases. I really, really liked this project.

Pawtental Match Review

I am reviewing there project because I find it very useful. For them to create such technology to help people with stress and depression was a good idea. If I wasn't allergic to dogs I would use their app to help me around finals time when it's most stressful. They turned something so rare into a magnificent idea. To create this app to help people is good and they are not only helping people find peace they are finding friends. The dog can gain a relationship with the person and the owner can also. The concept they have to reach out to all people no matter what problems they face is something needed in today's society. The way they had things set up was neat and easy to access so, if a child wanted to get on the app it will not be a challenge to them. Dogs can be someone best friend and to have an app that allows you to spend time with them is great. I am. It a dog person but if I was I would be interested in the app they created. During their presentation they keep me very alert the information and tone of the presentation was good and organized. If I knew someone who needed emotional support I would recommend their app to them

On another hand, I enjoyed the presentation and found it very useful. Only problem I see they face is when it comes to people knowing if it's safe to use and the location to meet the dogs. Some people worry about safety when using new apps and are cautious about things of the sort. If they mention doing background checks and having waivers for safety many people will use the app not only for emotional help but to have fun during fair time. I also like how they make it to fit kids with disabilities because they face many struggles and situations and dogs do not judge people and are always a friend to have. The mind set they had when creating this technology was to help better the society, so people would not have to feel alone. Using this app you will always have a friend you can go to when the time for one is needed. I know many people who love for dogs is strong and will use this app if they have clarity it is a good one.
