The Waldo Moment
The Waldo Moment is about an comedy character that was created by the character Jamie Salter. Waldo is known as the cartoon that makes fun of people as a segment in a show. When a politician is on the show for an interview, Waldo makes crude remarks to get a laugh out the audience. This sparks the interest of the shows owner to continue making political statements. This soon gets out of hand and Jamie wanting to leave the situation and fix it is thrown out and the character Waldo is then ran by the owner and continues in his political adventures until successfully winning the election.
This shows the weird behaviors as humans, that we want to be pulled for entertainment than real concern. Also, with the character being the one running, this causes a disconnect from punishment and has the same effect as being rude on the internet because of no connection to you.
Also, because of the popularity of Waldo, people feel he has more power than most. So naturally people think because of what he says, they can say also. For example, when Jamie is thrown out of the van, the owner than takes Waldo and call this man a fake and says to punch him for money. People that love the character naturally attacked him and was knocked out.
Overall this is a funny satire that shows the human behavior in politics to be entertained and to feel justified in their actions by anything in a higher power than them.
