How freaking creepy would that be? Honestly if i ever seen an ad like that i would probably become one of those type of people to stay in the house all day. i might be a little scared because of the fact that i would think of the many ridiculous possibilities and consequences that can come along with this sort of technology. of course i am not talking about an evil robotic take over (maybe)...i mean the fact that i would be walking around meeting new old people, or people that use to be alive in the actual sense but now in the A.I sense.

Sooner or later are we going to have to start verifying who we are by birth certificates and obituaries? If i ever run into an old friend that was supposedly passed away that signed up for this type of thing ... "1 ticket to the crazy house please". i know for a fact that i would be declared as insane. This is the idea that the Uncanny Valley, by Masahiro Mori, is simply saying; which is that we are pleased with how human like robots look until they start to look too much like us....until they start to actually be us .....and that most of all,  we are only freaked out by what looks uncanny because we are unfamiliar with it.

We notice this theory to be true in the film Be Right Back. The widow experiences a freaky realization that Ash can actually be simulated. the more time she was able to spend with the A.I unit the more she felt comfortable with it as it became familiar. it was up until it felt too much like him that she began to retaliate and abort her feelings of connection. she started to notice the little details that were not perfect about the A.I that were essential to the real Ash... and that is the exposure of the "Uncanny Valley".

It was no surprise that she locked him up in the attic and kept him, but my argument for that would be the fact that she had spent so much money and still was going to need a little closure every now and then ....and let us not forget that sex scene that probably is the only thing that was her money's worth to begin with.

I totally agree!!! I think this whole idea was creepy. I'll move into the nut house with you. I'd be so freaked out that I would honestly rather be anywhere else.

I don't think it's that creepy only because of the reason why she did it. If it was for another reason then it would be really weird. She wanted to be able to talk to her husband again. I'm sure that other people can understand where she came from but she just went about it the wrong way.

(For the sake of being a devil's advocate) I agree with Teresiah, in the sense that she did just want to be able to talk to her late husband again. I guess for us the reason it's so creepy is because we're not used to this. Who knows? This could one day be a reality. I'm sure people back in the day thought telephones were creepy but now they're so normal! "Hearing someone's voices when they're not around? Hell no, that's creepy!" :P
But I completely agree at the end there, hahaha.
