Is Waldo Your President?

"The Waldo Moment" didn't really relay new information or change any kind of mindset I already had. To me it was just an interesting thing to watch just because of what it represented and how we can relate it now. I don't have much to say about it besides a few things though. One being that Waldo was basically comic relief in the race and even though he knew he wasn't going to win, they made him (or rather the person playing him) run anyway.  The owner of the character Waldo, in short, was just selfish and wanted money, and this campaign would bring in plenty publicity, meaning more money. This, though, conflicted with the person who played Waldo's morals I suppose. He didn't want to be used that way and was willing to risk his job over a woman he barely knew. It can be said that he was slightly unstable when it came to extreme emotions. It seemed as though he was already unhappy in life and anything else adding to it made him break. This is what caused him to quit and eventually end up on the street while Waldo continued to thrive without him. In my opinion, he should've done what was best for him instead of acting on rash emotions. Sometimes you just have to think for what's best for you instead of the best for others. This adding to the fact that he has no other prospects, he should've known what the outcome would be. This was a sad but true representation of what goes on in elections and how people might feel about them. Waldo is one of the few where the outcome was exceedingly good.
This episode relates to real life now because of the presidential election that has recently passed. Both the election and The Waldo Moment had a lot to do with campaign. The people were also choosing and still choosing sides. The real president election, though, basically went how everyone thought it would. Trump won even though he shouldn't have and I feel as though the country was set back. I feel as though the country would be less panicked if it were Clinton that was elected instead, especially since she had the popular vote. Even though most of the stuff Trump was spewing about doing he might not actually be able to accomplish, the thoughts are still, for some, unmanageable. We are people and we shouldn't be run like a corporation. I think people are most worried about how his presidency will affect women and foreigners. For women, there are several issues that could occur, some being: no longer funding Planned Parenthood which could affect women in many ways from not only being unable to make their own choices, but also make it difficult for them to gain knowledge of sex, like so many young people, crimes against women might increase seeing as the example Trump is setting, and the glass ceiling will probably be harder than ever to break. Many foreigners face deportation and abuse of not being accepted wherever they are. All this election has done is revealed those small minded people who feel the need to discriminate against those different from them. In my opinion, I believe Trump as president will do nothing good for our country, especially since he has no experience and his views of the world and the people in it today is very ignorant and small minded. Because of his announced presidency, even days after, there has already been protesting and negative comments spewed at different race. The most popular protest I've seen on social media is the one that denies Trump any type of respect as president. How he isn't "my president" and the only president "I" have is Obama. People against Trump have had no problem showing and telling everyone how they feel about them. This is less so with Clinton now that the election is over. Hopefully, America can get through all of this in one piece. The years will probably fly by.

The amount of negativity about our President throughout America is very unsettling. It's interesting to see the different parties and their protests. You can see that most of Trumps protests are violent and demeaning and a lot of Clintons were peaceful protestors. It just makes you see what kind of people follow Trump and the kind of supporters Hilary have. What kind of people do we want having an impact in our society?
