While watching "The Waldo Movement," from the series Black Mirror, I could only think about how close this all is to the reality in today's world. From not only the main character but the irony of the situation. This episode shows how a failed comedian is making his dues by being a popular cartoon character "Waldo". He does this by doing live impressions and operates Waldo's every move, speech and facial expressions. To give a better description about Waldo himself he is a blue bear with small arms and legs and has eyes, ears, nose and a huge mouth. He appears on a screen, just as a household tv, and can have a full conversations with people. Although he is not real one could easily mistaken him for a real person. None of his movements are robotic and he speaks as a normal human would. Through out this episode the creators of Waldo want to see more of Waldo for the people; they want him to become prominent in society. So, the team thinks it would be a great idea to have Waldo run in the election and get people to vote for him. Why not? The other two candidates were in favor of no one and the idea of a cartoon being in rule was dubious but interesting. Finally, at the end of the episode people actually vote for Waldo and Waldo wins the election, and later takes over the world. So maybe not take over the world what you think in movies with the super heroes and villain, but in a more in a political sense.
When adults have to vote and the only choices are unbearable why not vote for a imaginary character that everyone loves. This being said people would rather vote for anything other than two bad choices. Really anything a blue bear for example is perfect. He makes people laugh and probably makes them forget about all the unsatisfactory things happening around them. The people can relate to him because he is one of them and believe that he may have a chance at getting some things changed. We have to be smart and aware of this situation and not mistaken the science fiction for reality.
Overall this election in today's time was memorial and very interesting and led many people in distraught. To conclude I don't know much of anything about political and still have a few years until I can vote, maybe then there will be some better chance of having choices that both should bring the world to a peaceful place. If not I see no reason why I wouldn't vote for a cute blue bear.

Your perspective is interesting. I agree that a lot of people voted Trump because he reminds them of themselves and is "relatable" (yuck). This relatability is exactly what I find to be disturbing. People voted for a man that built his entire campaign on blatant racism, sexism, xenophobia, and homophobia. This man epitomizes rape culture and people still wanted him to run this country. I don't buy the whole argument that not everyone who voted for him agrees with his platform. In my opinion, anyone who voted for Trump, for whatever reason, is doing nothing but perpetuating his bigotry. I can't understand the reasoning behind voting for someone with so much animosity in his heart towards marginalized groups. If anyone voted for Trump and still claims to be an advocate for equality of any kind, they'll get a side-eye from me; the words and actions are contradictory. If people were wanting someone different who has not had a shot at the whole presidency thing, why not vote for a third party candidate? At least those people actually have an agenda. I also don't believe that people only voted for him to keep Hillary out of office, because if that were the case, they could have voted third party as well. Now I don't think I'm one to vilify someone before they have had a chance to present their argument, but Trump has had ample opportunities to prove that he is not as horrible as his words make him seem, and every time he opens his mouth, he does nothing but prove that he a bigot, and thus trash in my eyes. Even though I was disgusted by the outcome of this election, I honestly cannot say I was surprised, as many Klansman stickers and Confederate flags as I've seen on people's vehicles in the south, and as much as I, and others close to me have been profiled or had slurs thrown at us.
First thanks and I agree completely many people were unaware of the third party candidate which my mom voted for because of the two choices we had were terrible either way.
