President Trump or President Waldo?

As we all know, Donald Trump was elected president on November 8, 2016. Some of us are still baffled and wonder how can someone so conceited and disrespectful towards American citizens become president. It’s also unbelievable because he has no political experience.

It’s disturbing to see how Waldo correlates with Donald Trump’s characteristics. Neither Waldo nor Donald Trump started off as political figures. Waldo was an animated, blue bear who started off on a tv show. Donald Trump was also on tv before running for president but was also a businessman. Similar to Waldo, Donald Trump was looked at as funny and comical. No one actually took Donald Trump, nor Waldo serious because there were other candidates who were more qualified than both Waldo and Donald Trump. It almost seems as if they were looked at as a comic relief. They both made people laugh with their rude remarks and bluntness. Waldo also was very persuasive and could make anyone who supported him do anything that he asked, which Donald Trump did as well. That is when things took a turn for the worse. People became violent toward others who didn’t support Waldo or Trump. In the end, Waldo gained dictatorship and his face was plastered everywhere. After watching The Waldo Moment and noticing the many similarities of Waldo and Donald Trump, I’m afraid for my country and the people who reside in it. Donald Trump has expressed the dislike that he has for the many people that live in our country and it makes me wonder that will happen to us while he is our president for the next four years. It seems as if you’re not white and Christian, then you may suffer discrimination from Donald Trump, but white citizens as well. Since it was announced that Donald Trump will be our president, there has been so much violence across the country. There has been things on the news almost everyday about riots and discrimination against African Americans, Mexicans, and Muslims. Hopefully, these changes are temporary and that our country doesn’t suffer anymore than it has in the past couple days. People are trying to have faith in Donald Trump based off the fact that he is a businessman, but you will never know what to expect because of what he has already shown us in the past. Will our country fall while Donald Trump is president? All we can do in the meantime is be optimistic.

Teresiah, it's been nearly a week and I still pose myself that exact same question of how could someone so disrespectful be the new figure we have to look up to. I do wonder if America is going to continue as is or if we're going to fall in the next few years. As much as I dislike future President Trump, I hope he does his part and we remain such a successful nation because he will be the captain of the ship and if he sinks it, we're all going down, unfortunately...
