First off, let me make no mistake,
PTS-Talk is a fantastic idea. PTS-Talk is a website designed for people
struggling with PTSD or people struggling with stages one or two trauma. The whole
idea is that people suffering with trauma can go online, find the part of the
website that fits the subject matter of the trauma they are struggling with,
and then talk about it with other trauma sufferers. The project itself was
fairly straightforward. The part of the project that really gave it teeth
however, was the presenters. You could tell by watching them that this wasn't just
some project to them. They legitimately cared about what they were presenting
on. This point is proven since every group member gave a brief synopsis about
how trauma has affected each and every one of them. This was a powerful tool to
ram their point home which was, “trauma is a serious issue, this is our idea on
how to go about dealing with it.” Plus, the Schwarzenegger impersonation was
top notch. As a trauma suffer myself, I really
fervently hope that this group actually goes somewhere with this project. I think
it is a fantastic idea that would be wildly successful. The only edit I would
really like to see happen is a general forum discussion page so all trauma
sufferers can have the choice of either coming to this website and talking to
people with similar experiences or talk to everyone and offer support to
whoever might need it. This is a little nitpicky though since I understand why
the group may not have included this. A forum like this would have been very
hard to organize and may not have fit with what they were trying to create. At the
end of the day though this was an astounding project. The group knew what they
were doing, they were well rehearsed, and put a great deal of effort into the
finished product. They were engaging and held my interest for the entire thirty
to forty-minute presentation. Extra kudos to PTS-Talk and the group who created
it.
