I am not going to lie, this was probably one of the worst and best projects at the same time. It is a great invention. Making a breathalyzer in your car sounds like a million dollar idea. However, there are two reasons it will not be for the "company" that "presented" on it during class. First off, this team of students would be sued for all their money if this wasn't just a school project. Why you may ask? This would happen because they clearly stole the idea straight from a website that is currently in the process of inventing a multi-million dollar project. I was honestly laughing because they basically literally told us they stole it when they showed us a video they found of the real invention in the making and claimed they came up with a "similar" idea first. This was the biggest lie I have ever seen presented, and we all know they took it right from the internet, changed up and took out a few things, and pretended their project was slightly different, and that they came up with it first. I can't believe they used this as their project because it was supposed to be original. I mean the whole concept of designing something is really hard to begin with, but stealing an idea in the real world would just get you sued for every penny have ever earned.
The other problem with the idea is that making a breathalyzer in your car in general, and to only detect the driver's breath is very impractical. It would take some massive thinking to invent the actual technology to do this. Also, people that are smart could trick the system by having the wrong person sit in the driver seat to turn the car on, and then switch to actually drive. While being a good idea, the whole thing is far from being produced. The only thing I kind of liked was the jingle they came up with and sang.
