PTS Talk

PTS-talk is a support website made to help post traumatic stress victims to have a comforting place online to gather and help one another in getting better. Through the presentation we were shown the different aspects of the website and their functionalities. It was made to start locally and depending on how well it did would determine if it would grow and go state wide and on. The website has useful resources for its users such as links to therapist and medical websites. As explained by the group, PTSD is a disorder caused by a traumatic event which can bear many triggers. For someone to be diagnosed they must have had the symptoms for a complete month. Victims of this disorder can get nightmares of their traumatic experience or can get sudden flashbacks of those events. For there to be a website supporting this specific issue can help so many more people than we might think. Many mental health struggles tend to be ignored if not thought to be seen as a weakness and not very important. If this were to become something true and big it could truly make a difference. The issue of such mental health issues are very sensitive but is completely possible to work with and help and such an idea is like a first step. Many people could benefit off of this due to its openness to be there for the ones in need. There could be millions of people who suffer in silence because they have a lack of support and the necessary tools to get help. If this were to grow into something financially from donations or other non profit resources, it could even pay particular therapists to host sessions or even conversations with these groups of people on this site and give them tips and strategies to help better themselves.

The group did a wonderful job with their presentation and how they went about it. Their points were very clear and the given execution was intriguing and kept me interested the entire time. The topic was very deep and sentimental which (on a personal note holds my attention)gives the sense of how important the idea of this project is and how effective it could be in the real world.
