You Matter is a non-profit organization centered on the prevention and treatment of Alcohol and Drug Abuse. In the United States, it has been declared that adolescence and young adult drinking and drug intake has become a health crisis. This has resulted in a large number of youth deaths in the form of automobile crashes and suicide. As a result, You Matter strives to thoroughly educate adolescence and young adults about the consumption of alcohol and use of drugs.
We plan to accomplish this goal through two methods: our prevention classes and app. The prevention classes are designed with the mission of protecting adolescence and young adults from the dangers of alcohol and drugs. Within these classes, the scholars will learn the affects of alcohol and drugs on their mental and physical health, the different types of drugs and ways that they affect your body, and ways to drink responsibly. Another method that we have is our You Matter App. Through this app, individuals can contact a specialist and receive information on our programs, drugs and alcohol, and even treatment opportunities. You Matter focuses on the individual and not the whole. By doing so, we hope to help the world become healthier and more successful.

YouMatter definitely chose a modern society global issue. The presentation was one of the most relatable things that can ever be discussed. I admit that I was a fan of the crushed up Smarties trend, and it was really fun. However, when I was on a cheer team we sniffed Pixie Sticks. It was said that it made our toe touches higher, but I think it gave a extreme energy boost. The rend caught on, and now looking back on that, the trend was a very bad idea. It could've started many bad habits early. The D.A.R.E program has to be one of the most unsuccessful programs ever made. Especially since, most kids are doing drugs before they even start the program, and their surrounded by people who indulge in the drug craze. Secondly, the teens often feel like their being forced to participate in the program. You're really not given a choice about , and of course they parent will sign the permission slip. Sadly, school curriculum is hard , and drugs help teen escape the harsh realities of that. Whereas, the smaller children want to go that 'exciting' D.A.R.E graduation at the end. In my opinion, accomplishment matters more when you're a child. The classes that YouMatter are freely joined so that will make them more appealing. I also like how troubled souls can call someone if they need to because not everyone has great family support Drugs usually become a clutch, and the users often think they need it to survive. Getting off drugs is harder, because the human body is getting so used to them. Overall, I think this final group project was great. It most definitely taught me facts that I needed to know. GOOD JOB !!!!
YouMatter provides a support system and an informational class for young adults, or children, who are prone to the exposure of alcohol or drugs. This group seeks to take early action against these substances, for alcohol nor are drugs biased to whom they affect. Through this informational class these young adults can have access to information that has been censored. Most parents believe their child will “just say no”, but the numbers of those affected states otherwise. Through this informational class the goal is to diminish any misconception of the effects these drugs can have on one’s body. Through curiosity or peer pressure these young adults are exposing themselves to something they have no knowledge of, but through this class they can have prior knowledge of what they will encounter.
Though this project was a mere prototype of "what could be", there were flaws surrounding this program. For instance, many programs have sought the same solution to this social issue to no avail. But what makes this presentation unique was that it provides an easy access to support groups. Despite the flaws, this presentation brought to light that from a young age teenagers are exposed to this peer pressure or curiousity. My favorite part was when we were able to see this through the Dave Chappelle skit, which in my opinion had made this project phenomenal.
