Cat-fished

In the movie that we watched this week called catfish i felt bad for the guy Nev. although i felt bad for him i had a feeling from the beginning that something was off about the relationship that he was having online with the girl Abby. On first instinct i felt like it was a little weird that the mother of the girl had no problem with her child having correspondence with someone she had met online.  I have always been a little weary of online relationships because I think its not the same as a face to face relationship. Before watching the movie I had already seen Nev's show Catfish. Since i had already seen the show i knew that the movie couldn't be far from the same concept of someone online not being who they say that they are. I think that is really messed up to pretend to be someone that you aren't online. I think that the woman Angela definitely has some problems. I think possibly she has just way too much time on her hands and i feel like she had to have known that pretending to be various other people online would blow up in her face. i think its no different from stealing someones identity. She is being someone that she is not only its online. She is playing with peoples emotions by making them think that she is one person and they are growing an emotional attachment to her while she is lying about who. I think the reason that people sometimes develop an emotional attachment to people because it is no longer about a physical thing. Also with the anonymity of being online  you can quiet literally be anyone. I have seen shows where people make fake profiles to bully people. With the way that people have become so dependent on their phones and social media to keep up with people they have also began to use them to have relationships with people. I think eventually people will only have online relationships and that is going to lead to many more people being cat-fished. The term of being duped by someone online for them pretending to be someone else online is so common that there is now a term used to describe it. The term cat-fished is now so common that it has become normal for someone to talk about it and its so normal now that there are even multiple shows about it.
