Exposing catfish

The documentary really opened my eyes. Just by reading the title though, I already had a sense of what the documentary was going to be about. Abby, a child, would send paintings of Nev's photography. Nev thought that she was a special child who had a great fun family. Eventually Nev meets Abby's sister, Meghan and they start talking and eventually start to develop a relationship. Now the young lad is so in love that he talks to her on the phone and sends text messages all day until he has the guts to see her.(and Abby) All that changes in the end when Nev actually decides to come visit Abby and her mom Angela plus the whole family. What seems to be a good fun family turns out to be a different one. Abby states that she barely paints, Abby's mom does not look like the photo on Facebook and Meghan is some how always gone. Nev gets suspicious and realizes he's been cat fished.  Abby never paints and instead it was the mother, Angela, the whole time. And for Meghan, she doesn't exist. Nev's love for Meghan was all with a non-existent person. Angela was pretending to be Meghan and made it look like Abby (not to mention her only daughter)  paint but it was Angela's talent. Now I feel bad for Nev and that he got tricked into falling in love. But it made me feel some empathy for Angela who was guilty of it all. She lives in a house with her husband, Abby and her step-sons who are both disabled. It seemed that she was depressed for not reaching her dreams which was a dancer. She broke down because of her life. She wants to do something that will help her and her children. So she pretended like a young child that had a talent of painting in order for her to be known out in the world. She wanted to be something in the world. Nev actually had some empathy for her. It was all lies that turned out true. At the end of the documentary, it stated that one of Angela'
s disabled sons had died and that made me sad. She did that so she could do something for herself and her kids. Possibly for a living.
