You Think That's Megan? l Don't Know...

In Catfish the movie Nev is manipulated by a so called "Megan" which turned out to be Angela. I never quite understood why people use other people's photos and pass as someone they are not. It makes no sense to lie about who you are and what you look like. Angela was not only deceiving Nev but was also deceiving herself by thinking she would never get caught. I believe that Angela just wanted to pretend she had a different life since the life she was living was not how she intended it to be. Nev really fought it out when it came to figuring out if he was being lied to or not which ironically lead him to become famous. I find it awesome that he used what he went through as an example of what could happen if you fall in love with someone through social media. As the years go by our technology becomes more advanced and there is a bigger chance you could find love in a dating app or any form of social media than in person. Now I do not think that this is necessarily a bad thing because I actually found my other half on Facebook but I do think that it is important to either meet in person or at least video chat before anything else. It also seemed that as soon as he made Catfish the Series there was more and more cases of people being catfished. Although Nev took the deception like a champion I know that deep down he was very upset and felt stupid for believing at one point all the lies that were told to him.

If you really think about it though Angela really played the Megan role great by creating fifteen other Facebook profiles that were supposedly Megan's friends. She even picked up the letters on her way through Megan so called address. I find it really disturbing that someone would go through all this trouble to pretend to be someone else if they know that at the end of the day they are still going to be the same person regardless of how many lies they tell everyone else. Who knew that his embarrassment of falling in love with an illusion of who he thought he fell in love would make him be so well known in the future and actually gain profit for giving and working his magic through different situations of what he went through.
