Monetization and an Unfair Trial

The punishment that Victoria is put through is clearly brutal. The “justice” that they hammered down on Victoria is a tad bit too extreme for what she did, in my opinion. Victoria was voluntarily an accessory to the crime but she could have been manipulated into doing it. There are studies that show that some captives and people stuck in abusive relationships begin to sympathize with their captives. She could have been tricked into taking part in the crime by being threatened or harassed. During the final moments of the episode it is revealed that the boyfriend who killed the kidnapped girl committed suicide before his trial. This could have caused the court to go harder on her case and give her a more harsh punishment than she would have gotten if he did not kill himself. Not only is the punishment that she received controversial, but so was the way that they operated the punishment
They had an entire “justice park” to torture her. They were selling tickets to enter and participate in the torture and were also charging for parking to the park. They were monetizing on prisoners. When monetizing comes into play, the people who are benefitting from the prisons/justice parks, do anything to try to get more prisoners so they can have a bigger income from their prisons so they push and bribe people to make bills and laws that make it easier to incarcerate people and help them them in there for longer times. It’s like modern day American prisons where the prisoners are monetized and forced to work. The prisoners are paid illegal wages and don’t get any benefit from the work that they are doing. It’s also not known if this is the only justice park in existence in the shows universe but I would assume that there are multiple parks since the shows host seems to be very popular amongst the crowd and everything is executed so perfectly. The theory of their being multiple parks supports the idea of her being incarcerated just plays part into the monetization of prisoners.
In the end, I believe that the entire situation is unethical. Victoria did not deserve the punishment that she received. The reason why she was given an unfair trial was because it was corrupted by the fact that someone was going to make money off of her incarceration and the fact that the people were not able to punish her dead partner.
