Catfish

I used to always watch the television serious of Catfish but I never watched the movie to see how it all started. As always Catfish shows are always a little creepy, they dare to explore further into the internet to find out if someone is real or not. Many of us thought it was pretty funny when we find out the person they were talking to wasn’t really them but it’s pretty sad that you can just pretend to be someone else just because you feel like it. Yet, this is very normal in our society, if you don’t like who you just get online and be someone different.

            Many people use the internet to become a whole new person and sometimes others start to fall in love with them, just like Nev did. He thought he was talking to this young pretty girl named Megan. In reality, he was talking to a 40-year-old lady that was also pretending to be the mom of a little girl that painted for him, when in reality she was the one painting for him. Nev never thought that Megan would be fake because he talked to her on the phone and he thought they had a really good connection.

            Everything started to feel wrong for him when she sent him a “recording of her singing” songs he requested but he knew it sounded too good to be done in 20 minutes. He started looking into YouTube and he heard one that was exactly the same so that’s when he started doing his research. People can easily just take something from YouTube, Google, Facebook… etc. that’s how easy it is to become someone else. He started looking up the places she said she was at and he used every bit of information he had from Megan and her “sister” to track them down, which sounds pretty creepy but I can kind of understand him since he just wanted to know the truth about them.

            I think it’s funny how at first Nev didn’t want them recording these moments because he thought they were embarrassing and now it’s how they make their money. Catfish has now made over six seasons of shows. Many people have contacted them so the Catfish crew can help them find out if the person they are talking to is real. Now, that basically tells you how normal people get catfished. Nev and his crew fly out to wherever they have to go and do their research of the other person and at the end of the show, we find out if they’re real or not.
