Be Right Back

In "Be Right Back" we are presented with new technology already by seeing how advanced the GPS and radio system has become in cars, the way Martha painted, and the smartphones and laptops were extremely advanced. It's scary knowing this came out in 2013 and it is now 2017, we are still seeing technology advances. After Ash 1 dies in a car accident, Martha tries to cope but is having a hard time. During his funeral, Martha's friend Sarah tells her about this thing that will allow to speak to someone who is dead but it is still in beta mode but she can test it out. I can understand why Martha was reluctant at first to try it out because I would be a little freaked out knowing this thing will  sound like one of my loved ones.Once Martha finds out that she is pregnant she decides to talk to Ash 2. Once she starts communicating with this technology through e-mail she starts isolating herself from friends and family. She then buys a robot and activates it. Now she has something physical of Ash 1.
She buys a robot and activates it as Ash 2. He resembles Ash 1 somewhat but he taller and doesn't have facial hair but he was able to create the mole that Ash 1 had. Martha  was using Ash 2 to cope with her hurt and pain but this is unhealthy. Her having Ash 2 around is not giving her the opportunity to accept that Ash 1 is dead and can not come back but  she's stuck with the internet version Ash 1 because Ash 2 is only "bits and pieces" of Ash 1. There is a saying that when someone dies, a baby is born.Since Martha was pregnant the baby could have been a blessing from God so she wouldn't be alone. During the end of  the film so many questions went through my mind.
Is Martha coping better with the lost? Did she put Ash 2 in the basement just to forget about him and stuff her grieving away like Ash 1's mother. How did she explain this robot in her basement to her daughter? Does the daughter know this robot is her father? It's so creepy that we are seeing life like robots, such as Sophia the robot that said she wants to kill people. They are able to communicate with humans and they can possibly take over in a few years.

In your blog you comment, "It's so creepy that we are seeing life like robots..." What part of these machines do you find the most creepy? Is it the fact that they can communicate in a programmed function or the way they look? Or is it the thought that as A.I. develops we don't know if we will be able to control it or not?

When you ask questions about how the daughter feels about Ash 2.0 in the attic, I'm pretty sure all of it is completely normal to her. She most likely thinks that everyone has a secret Ash in their attic according to whichever loved one they've lost, but who knows! I'm sure if you told people 15-20 years ago that we'd be carrying around a portable computer in our pockets and cars would be driving themselves then they would think that are absolutely mental. Except, that's our reality! So, for them this is just normal life and the uncanny valley may no longer exist as the little girl grows up. I'd be interested to know when the uncanny valley no longer affects people anymore, because then that would be the day robots could probably integrate themselves into society...
