Questions

The film left me with so many unanswered questions that make it hard for me to believe that an Ash 2.0 may be walking around soon. Just how complicated is Ash 2.0? We clearly recognize that it is not human, but it can do almost everything that humans do. But how? First, Ash 2.0 looks human but is not at all. Martha reveals that its' skin feels soft but it must be synthetic material. Otherwise, Ash 2.0 would need to eat to keep it healthy. The same question applies to his hair. We understand that it doesn’t grow on its own since it stays the same length throughout the film. Or does Ash 2.0 have the power to grow it when it wants like how it grew the mole on his chest. We don’t learn about the boundaries that restrict it, so there is a chance that it can grow other parts of the body too. The answers to these questions depend on what is on the inside of Ash 2.0. Is it empty or does it have all the human organs? There could also be a huge battery that powers the body. This brings up the biggest question: how does it move? Are there small motors that power the limbs instead of muscles? We don’t ever see Ash 2.0 “charging”. Humans eat and sleep to recuperate energy but it doesn’t do either. There must be an energy source somewhere in Ash 2.0, there is no other way of explaining its’ functions. Even speaking, an action that we are so used to doing, is highly complicated. It doesn’t sound like Ash 2.0 is speaking through a speaker which means there must be a technology that acts like vocal cords and inhibits vibrations that sound like words. I may be focusing too much on the hardware of Ash 2.0 instead of the software but it just does not add up how advanced technology must be for an Ash 2.0 to be brought into fruition. And if AI technology is that advanced, then how advanced is everything else. Why did they not have a self-driving car that may have avoided the car accident that killed Ash in the first place? I caught myself questioning every scene which made the film slightly less enjoyable. This was my second time watching it which is probably the reason why I was paying attention to these details instead of Martha and Ash 2.0’s relationship.

Yes, exactly this technology is so complex. The major general question is: "Will all these details be figured out soon to make the robot an actual human?"
