White Bear: An unrealistic sadistic theme park

The television series “Black Mirror” is a series that truly inspires the mind to think outside of the box and view the world with a new perspective. One episode in particular, “White Bear” delves deep into the manner in which justice is served. However, even though this episode offers a unique perspective, one should agree that this sadistic theme park is far from realistic. The White Bear Justice park is a temporary, individualized niche that will ultimately fail economically and morally.

After watching this episode in the “Black Mirror” series, my brain started thinking. Could this theme park be a feasible instrument of exercising justice? Personally, I feel as if this theme park would fail. First, I feel as if this theme park is far too individualized for the criminal. The whole theme park is centered around a single crime. The massive number of criminals in this world would not all be able to have their own designated theme park to serve justice. If justice should be served equally, how are we going to determine which criminals get their own theme park? It is impractical to erect these parks around the world simply to entertain the general public in a sadistic, sick way.

Second, I feel as if this kind of amusement park would not bring in many customers. The type of sadistic entertainment would not attract many people. The only people it would attract are people that are sick themselves. I doubt this theme park could be used as an opportunity to educate the general public of the punishment of committing a heinous crime. I find it surprising that the makers of this episode portray this theme park as a “family friendly” outing. There are multiple children present, enjoying the pain of the criminal. In real life, morality will play a much larger role. Personally, this sick park would be the last place I would want to take my kids. I just don’t see the entertainment factor of this park. Most importantly, this kind of theme park can only work properly if there are plenty of customers coming to help in the performance. Without a massive number of customers, the simulation of everyone in town videotaping the criminal could not be possible.

Some final critiques of this film are that this simulation happens every day, all-day. The employees in charge of leading must get tired of repeating the same thing every day. The constant exposure to this type of torture takes a special kind of person to want to get up in the morning and go to work. Ultimately, this theme park is an interesting idea, but should be restricted to fiction. I do not feel as if this could be implemented in today’s society for reasons stated above.

I agree. If you think about it will this Park continue on forever and ever? At some point this will end. It will get old. People will stop coming and spending their money. At some point it will be shut down because of profit and because it is inhumane! The morals here are every low.... But right now they make a lot of money, and if you think about it they have been doing this to other people as well. To humiliate an individual in this way even thought they may "deserve it" is completely sick.
