White Bear

While we were watching White Bear, the first thing we see is Victoria in a chair with pills on the floor. She had no idea who she was, she woke up thinking she tried to kill herself. Throughout the show, she still has no idea who she is. She gets chased down and almost killed and she has no idea what is going on.

All I was thinking throughout the show was “how can these people just watch her get chased down and scared for her life and not help her.” Everyone was just recording her, keeping a distance, and keeping quiet, which made it even creepier. She found someone she could trust and it got that taken away. By the end of the show, we find out Victoria and her fiancé kidnapped, recorded, and killed a 6-year-old girl and this was her punishment.

            Victoria had relived the same day over and over again, without any memory of the past days, just for others entertainment. When I found out at the end what she had done, I didn’t think this type of punishment was right for her because she had no clue who she was, she thought the little girl was her daughter. They did this to her every day to get profit from it. They knew people posting this on social media would attract more people, that’s why they always have so many people paying to participate.

            Gottfried Leibniz said, “If a and b are the same thing, then any property of a must also be a property of b.” The thing about White Bear is that the Victoria that did those horrible things, wasn’t the same Victoria at the end. She lost all memory of what she had done, she didn’t even know who she was. She would get shocked every day, which fried her brain completely. She is not going to last forever; all that torture is slowly killing her.

            Yes, what she did was wrong on so many levels but torturing every single day with the same things happening isn’t justice for the little girl. Victoria should have kept those memories, so she knows every single day what she did. Just by remembering what she did will kill her more. All those people that are participating in the park are doing the same wrong that she did, recording a person getting tortured. The park is just making money off of her and the day Victoria is dead, they are going to have to find a new criminal and change up the whole story depending on what the other criminal did.
