Helpful Hands

I really enjoyed the presentation “Helping Those Who Need It”.  They explained it very well as to where it made a lot of sense. I liked the idea of them caring about the homeless and their invention was a very smart idea.  Not too many people care about the homeless and obviously they would not want to help them at all.  The invention consisted of a vending machine but especially designed for the homeless, in the back of the machine there was a pod like place where people could out there leftover food from restaurants in.  The homeless people would have to get a card to their name, it will have all there information and they would get like $3 a day to let them buy personal belongings or more food form somewhere else.  I guess people would donate money and it would go in their card.  Some suggestions would be to include a microwave by the pod so that if needed they could warm up there food, maybe a drink machine would be nice as well.  Yes this would all need more funding but they are just suggestions.  There were a lot of questions asked and one of them was like what if it is a mother that has four kids, is she supposed to share the one meal she gets or does each of the kids get a card and a meal for each one?  Well due to the fact that the numbers of cards are limited, the mother would get more than just one meal that day due to her children. I had an experience once where I was trying to be nice to a homeless guy and tried buying him coffee but the people at the coffee shop got mad and the cops went to talk to him because he is not suppose to beg, but the problem is that he did not beg I offered.  That is why I really like this idea because now they would not get in trouble or have to beg.  Restaurants have a lot to offer and instead of putting all that food to waste they are putting it in good use.  This is something that should have been thought of a long time ago.  Although it could use a little bit of fixing and adding things to it, it was a wonderful presentation and I think you should present it to a marketing group so it could become public and present it to restaurant as well to see what their opinion is on this.
