The JOGO App is a creative invention. It allows children to learn the importance of staying healthy and learning how to manage your time between technology and being active. The JOGO App is in correlation to the JOGO wristband. The app is used to allow the parents to create a master passcode to lock the child’s phone until they burn a certain amount of calories throughout the day. Once the wristband detects that the child has reached his or her goal, the wristband notifies the parent and allows them to unlock the child’s phone for his or her technological free time. I believe this technological invention will be a step in the right direction for decreasing childhood obesity and many other problems that you may have as an adult that stemmed from not living a healthy lifestyle as a child. Research shows that children ranging from the age of 8-18 spend an average of 45 hours a week in front of a computer screen. Having possession of this app will help decrease these numbers and allow children to rest their brains and experience life outside the technological world. Having access to this app will also allow children to venture out to meet people on a physical relationships, and not just based off of a technological relationship. The most impressive thing on this invention is the masterlock the parent’s create. This master lock passcode allows parents to get physical proof to show that their children are reaching their caloric goals. Children can just tell you that they have reached their goal and probably did not do anything or only did half the work, but this feature of the app allows you to be fully aware of their actions. This app is great because it allows you to create a balance between your technological advances and keeping a healthy lifestyle. Starting off early with making good decisions about your lifestyle will linger over into your adult lifestyle, and will make it easier for you to adapt to certain health habits. Overall I enjoyed this project because of its creative way to target the lifestyle choices of your childhood.
