"Be Right Back" forces the audience to question how far would technology go before it begins to crack human morals. The scene where the daughter goes to the attic is very insightful as to how his girlfriend never moved on. As a physical reminder of her dead boyfriend, the robot becomes more than just a visual image. The daughter does not call him "dad" or anything like this. Rather, she refers to him as "Ash." The relaxed tone of her voice says a lot about the relationship between the two. The young girl is a perfect example of a new generation would grow up to be more accustomed to these types of robots. The newer generations have grown up in a world of more technology. Taking the first meeting of the robot and girl's mother as an example, she saw it as creepy and was freaked out. She was not used to this type of technology. The universe that she lives in was made to replicate our current world. New technology is being created faster than people can get used to. Smartphones, for example, are relatively new things. It took people a little minute to get used to them. However, now almost everyone has one. Older people also have them. The girl and her attitude towards the robot could also show how younger people are with new technology that they have grown up with. At the end of the episode, before she went up to the attic for the final time, the woman stands for a brief minute with an emotional look on her face. I am not sure if this is because of how the little girl is excited to spend time with the robot or because she misses the original Ash. However, I interpreted it as her still not accepting the robot Ash. She cannot get rid of it and instead locked it up in the attic just as her boyfriend's mother had done with the pictures of her dead son. The little girl, on the other hand, is all for the robot and spending time with him. This creates a rift between the new generation and the older generation. However, the older generation is slowly giving in to the new technologies just as she gave in and did not kill the robot. The girl is going to continue to grow closer to the robot and her mother will watch this, perhaps regretting her decision to have the robot made.

I agree that Martha never moved on. There is a rift between the different generations because technology is always changing. I also believe that the girl is going to grow affection for Ash 2.0, and Martha did not think this through. I believe Martha should have pushed Ash 2.0 off the cliff but she allowed him to crack her morals.
