Catfish

I think it is appropriate to say that this weeks film of "Catfish" was my favorite so far this year. Before watching this film, I felt the other films/T.V episodes were just creepy and weird. First of all, I was able to understand the film easier, because the people did not have any accents. Secondly, I was not confused at all during the film, but was actually excited to see what new adventures Nev Schulman, Max Joseph, Ariel Schulman would run into. Throughout the film, some interesting questions popped into my head. Does Megan even exist? Are Abby's family a bunch of serial killers/psychopaths? and How will Nev handle all of this?

At the beginning of the film, it sort of seemed like a cut and dry between a famous photographer and a young talented fan. I originally thought that this documentary was gonna show Abby and Nev together talking about art, photography, etc... But the thing is Nev only met Abby for one afternoon and it did not go the way Nev thought it would. I thought it to be weird, because every time, except for like 30 seconds, did Nev get the opportunity to talk on the phone with Abby.

Things especially started to get weird when Megan was sending Nev songs that they requested her to sing, but soon found out that that she was just finding songs on the internet of other people singing, instead of herself. This is when Nev started to realize that maybe he does not know Megan as well as he might assume. This is where things started to get a little creepy, because Megan did not actually own the horse farm, the building used for "Abby's gallery" was still up for sale from four months ago, and Abby's mom apparently has cancer.

In the end, I was happy that Abby's mom told Nev the truth and why/how she did what she did. I was also happy to know that do this day Nev still keeps in touch will Abby and her mom. Also at the end, where we were shown the picture used as Megan's Facebook profile picture was just some random woman that Abby's mom pulled off of the internet. I wonder how that woman felt, having her picture on someone else's account. Overall, it was a great documentary and I was glad to get a chance to watch it.

I did not catch that Megan sent Nev songs of her apparently singing so I am glad that you mentioned that! But I do want to point out something you said and I am not sure if you noticed the truth behind it. Abby's mom did say on camera that she had cancer and was soon to undergo chemo and/or radiation treatments. However, at the end of the documentary, Nev added in some truths or facts, one being "Angela doesn't have cancer".
