Project Smiley

Project Smiley is a website that is set up to help students specifically at CBU with their classwork and homework. I think that this is a great idea and could definitely be useful to the school. As of now, the way the website works is that any one can comment on the home page asking for help on assignments or sign up for a tutoring session. I like the fact that the group is working towards making the log in attached to the students ID number. I think that this cite would work better if they we're to directly partner with the schools tutoring schedule so that people can make sure they are getting help from qualified people. The main concern with the website it figuring out how to stop people from abusing the website for cheating. One way to maybe decrease the chance of people posting photos directly on the cite is to only allow typed notes to be posted. This might lower the number of people who use the cite but it could make it a more credible place to go. It would also be useful to make it to where people could make groups for their classes. That way when there is a certain class that not many people are taking, you can directly ask your classmates. It might also be a good idea to go to the professors for suggestions on the youtube videos over course materials. As discussed in class, some of the things taught online is not the way a professor will teach it in class. You definitely don't want students trying to blame your website on bad grades or other students will not think its a good tool to use. Another think mentioned in class is that students can ask questions anonymously. I think this is a good feature because sometimes people want to go to a specific person for answers but are to embarrassed to do so. On the other hand, if you were to take that feature away, students seeing other students openly ask questions could potentially encourage them to o the same. This would be helping students not only with their work but also eliminating their reasons to be embarrassed to ask fro help. I think that this is a good idea because of how much help it would bring to students but keep in mind it requires lots and lots of administrative regulation.
