First off, I was thinking about what happened in the documentary over the weekend and just realized how crazy obsessed Angela was with Nev. I mean, the whole ordeal started with her sending oil painting versions of Nev's published photography under the guise of her daughter. I understand that it is kind of nice gesture to send fan mail or fan art to someone you look up to, but there were definitely ulterior motives to Angela's actions because she lied about who was painting them. If was she didn't have an unhealthy obsession with Nev, then she probably wouldn't have lied about who was painting them. In my opinion, Angela is a pathological liar and a creep.
As we were discussing in class about what exactly was so off-putting about the whole situation, I couldn't quite figure out what my issue was. I don't really see anything wrong with having a different personality on social media versus real life because I still feel like you can still be true to yourself while having different social media personalities. I also understand having different social media platforms for various reasons. I don't have any problems with either of these things. My problem is using someone else's pictures and pretending that you are someone else. You are using these pictures for no reason other than blatant deception and you are also USING a LIVING BREATHING PERSON to further your own gains, whatever they may be. While I do understand wanting to remain anonymous or wanting to use a random picture/avatar, I don't consider using another person's pictures okay, even if you are using them for these reasons. Using a picture of a character from something or a logo/icon from something is completely fine, in my opinion, because there's no way to deceive somebody because you obviously aren't that person or character or thing. However, there are no reasons to use someone else's pictures unless you are trying to convince someone else that you are something that you aren't. Personally, I find this as a type of identity theft. Obviously, it's not as dangerous or harmful as like stealing someone's credit cards or driver's license, but I would still think that it's just as wrong. In Angela's case, she didn't just steal one identity, she stole many, including the identity of her DAUGHTER. She used her daughter (and family friends) to further her creepy obsession with Nev.
Regardless, I think we can all agree that what Angela did was wrong.
(and that she is a CREEP)

I really thought Angela crossed the line when she dragged her daughter into the situation as well.
