Catfish

In this documentary we are presented with what is basically the origins of the term "catfishing".  We are introduced to Nev, a photographer in New York, who appears to receive emails and painting from this 10-year-old girl that uses his photographs as inspiration. He later comes in contact with the rest of her family and even starts building a relationship with her sister Meghan. After Nev finds out that a lot of things that Meghan is telling him are lies he decides to go visit her in order to find out what the truth is. It is shown later on that everything that Nev thought to be true was actually all made up by the mom, Angela.
The audience upon hearing her life story does begin to feel sympathy towards her but at the same time she does set herself up in a way that you can't help but feel at least some sympathy towards her. I do think that she wanted to be found maybe she also thought that it wasn't something that was likely, but I do think that at the back of her head she hoped that he would find her. I also think that she hoped for a different outcome as well. That Nev would come and say that everything was okay and that they could continue what they had.  And if that were to have happened I do think she would have gone along with it. Her husband even mentioned that whenever he asked her what it was that she truly wanted she would go back and tell her that she was alright where she was because it was something stable. So I think that if Nev were to have offered her some form of stability then she would have gone for it.
I was also thinking that she got really lucky with the fact that Nev turned out being the way he is. He tried to confront her without trying to make her feel bad. At the same time you could say that she reall unlucky that it was Nev because now her story is out there for the world to see.
I do think that the outcome would have been different if Angela would have looked like what he thought Meghan looked like but we also have to take into consideration that this person that he was talking to suddenly has a family and a husband that she is still very much married to.
