In this episode of catfish, nev starts his journey of documenting people who are not who they claim to be online and decide to intertwine real people in their web of lies and deception. This first person who is documented for being victim of catfishing is Nev himself. He start fr doing another documentary about an 8 year old girl and her advanced arts of work. Then later develops a relationship with her older sister. After finding a series of falsified information, Meg decided to finally go meet the woman he had developed a relationship with for about 8 months in person. He confronts the mother who he has spoken to and the little 8 year old girl but not the woman he has been in a relationship with. In a disturbing twist, the mother, Angela, is the woman Nev has been speaking to all of this time. Even the relationship he build with the little girl with complimenting her art work was built on a lie. The little girl did not paint the paintings that Nev was so fascinated by. Those paintings were Angela’s. Angela plays out this sad story of how her life isn’t what she wanted so she wanted her escape. For every person on her social media page that commented on her stuff (posing as Meagan), it was really just her on another page. She had a total of 15 different accounts along with Meagan to make her lies even more convincing. Angela told Nev that each profile that she created was a piece of her that she could truly express due to her circumstances being taking care of 2 handicapped step-sons. Angela was not able to excel in her futures plans is being an artist, photographer, or a dancer because she ended up becoming a stay at home mom of 3 children, not including the older daughter that is not around. This should not be made a sad situation because she determined her own circumstances. She didn’t have to take own the task of taking care of another man’s kids. She didn’t have to have another child with her husband. She didn’t have to become a stay at home mom who didn’t pursue her dreams. Do you feel bad for this woman? I think that people will generally say that they feel bad for how her life turned out but not for what she did. If you think deeper, she wasn’t forced to take care of anyone but, Angela did choose to waste someone’s time and feelings and also invade and exploit the privacy of people she did not know.

You're right, Angela chose to live that life, and now she wants people to feel sorry for her. But I have no sympathy for this woman. She deceived her family and Nev's family without ever taking responsibility for her actions.
I feel sympathy for Angela in the same way I feel sympathy for a person who steals because they will never be able to afford an item. Even though their situation in hindsight is sad it does not make their actions right.
