Do not confuse what actually is, with what it is like.

Many times in life, we humans tend to take something that may not be the real thing, but its almost just that. The thing that makes us feel comfortable and at peace with ourselves. Its the thing that makes us smile and the thing we hold onto dearly. Each person is different of course. For some this thing could be an object or a person. Whatever it is, the important part is that nothing on this earth could replace it. But, we as humans have this tendency to fix things that are unfixable. We try to replace what we once had, so we feel comfortable and keep going in life. The problem with this? It's just not the same. Nothing can replace what once was and now isn't. We grow so attached to somethings that we feel like we have to find substitutes when they leave us. Instead of simply moving on, we choose to fall back and try to find something similar. This is something humans do which I believe is a very unhealthy way of dealing with situations in which we lose something close to us. a perfect example would be the "be right back". The show explains the story of a woman who loses her husband and looks to science so he can still be around. Obviously her real husband is dead, but the collection of his memories lived on. Which put into an android that could learn, made it impossible to move on. This is just an example of how humans, even in science fiction settings, take it to another level. I cant get over the fact that we cant seem to let go. Even though it is the better option, we still tend to want to hold on. Why? I ask myself that everyday. Have we as humans become so materialistic, and not in the sense of only caring about material things that money could by for example. but have we become so dependent on a "warm body" or some type of object to keep us company? Have we become that needy that we can twist our own reality into thinking something is real just for the sake of not feeling alone? This happens on a daily and I'm afraid that we'll probably never correct it. For crying out loud, we cant even explain our own consciousness but we may be able to build androids and they will become so real that we wont even notice. What can this tell us about the human race and where its headed? I refuse to live in a world where the real can no longer be separated from the made up. Which I can honestly say, it feels like that world is here... But I will continue to separate what is from what it is like.

I agree with the fact that we settle with what may not be the real thing, whether it is an object or person. I like how you connected this to our dependence on the fake things possibly leading to the world not being able to tell the difference between what is real and what is not.

Orlando, I completely agree that there is something in humanity that cannot be replaced. No matter how advanced and how close these androids look and act like humans, there will always be something missing and even though it is hard to describe what that something is, it is easy to know when it is gone. This is what makes these uncanny experiences.

I totally agree. We have the tendency to replace our pain instead of dealing with it. As matter fact society culture us to specific roles in life. For example, a male must be masculine so, therefore, would rather whole their feeling in then expressing it to others. Also, we become attached to a materialistic item such money thinking the more money we have the happier we would be.
