Does eye for an eye make the world go blind?

Eye for an Eye

For people who just want to read a little bit. I disagree with White Bear's way of dealing with their inmates. We all see the type of treatment she is receiving on a daily basis and yet they will let her suffer still. I can believe this is more of a futuristic dilemma but the points that stood out is the exploitation, manipulation, and torture. How is the woman going to learn her lesson if she doesn't get the chance to reflect on her deeds? What if she doesn't even remember the crime she committed? Does that make her innocent? Well no, she is guilty and one-time punishment with the chance to repent is more than enough. Going overboard with her punishment makes the jurisdiction corrupt because they are using her as an example and entertainment. Not how someone treats another human being.

I’m just going to start with my own thoughts about it. And deep inside I’m truly torn and happy. I've actually lied on the small description because some people would like to just finish the assignment and just comment so what I did is just an attempt to make their life simpler, anyhow.  How can someone find amusement in this punishment of White bear? That’s a really hard question to answer but, if you put all the pieces together; we all want to see the world fall apart and hope that we are just the spectators. In our reality, we must live in peace and follow rules because people are afraid of thy neighbor(s) and of their possible actions. Back to the punishment. I personally enjoyed every single moment of it (after understanding the main reason of the episode) because I saw the raw fear in her eyes, the confusion in her actions, and the breaking of a human being. The way she sobs is just indicating the brink of her mind trying to grasp uncertainty and reality. The loss of yourself is worse than death especially if one is forced to live a day in repeat. I believe this is justice for her and my reasons will differ from empathetic people while I acknowledge how this is inhumane today.

Now, why did I just make that comment above? In truth, I wanted all the readers to know my stance on this topic. That is all. I cannot claim the world being perfect because there are some people that have experienced the injustices of life. Nor can I say it’s not close to art because life has a way to fix every problem or make the problem a beauty of its own. I look at our lives and the recent events and I really don’t think that we (humans) are worth the trouble of keeping alive. There are some stupidities that I would like to see vanish, for example: letting natural selection to do its job, have Mother Nature be chaotic, and let nature take its course.

The episode White Bear. What more can I say… it all started with me feeling a little curious about her situation. The act of waking up somewhere that’s not familiar is scary and a bit unsettling but what raised the question was why was everyone else just watching her? I believed she was a mother due to her flashbacks and she wants to understand what’s happening. I can tell you the whole story, but I know you know so let’s get the points that made this episode f*****.

They played with her memory. We can all agree on that because we even witnessed the scene that she is being mindwiped. The viewers also know that she’s a convict that is serving her time in the institution named White Bear. She has nothing but herself in this case and not only is this episode showing justice, it’s showing the system of how people will go far lengths to break her for her deeds.

Feeling a little bad for our female friend, well I can’t say I blame you. I was feeling like that in the beginning, how these people were chasing her down was nerve-wracking until I saw the motives of these people. I am that person that thinks of justice as an eye for an eye, even if I was told the eye for an eye will leave the whole world blind. It’s not the best thing to do in a religious case but this is the future of yesterday and everything has impermanence. With what we’ve been exposed, I concluded that her punishment was fit for her. She just watched a little girl die. She is dead forever. Why not her suffer forever? She felt the fear of the little girl, the sensation of the world not making sense. It’s not exploiting her. It’s working more like a warning to all the other people. I mean, would you like to commit a very serious crime and live through your victim’s life without knowing what you did?

Alright, now for my sake. I’ll tell you that this is messed up. I have a little empathy just like everyone else and I really don’t want her to suffer. Some people say that this is a form of exploitation and I would see some points as to why. Then the type of crime would play a part of how the convict is supposed to go through and honestly not everyone is going to make the same crime, so I see a small flaw in their way of punishing people. The psychology of a person is not to be messed with and we are all human beings thanks to God’s blessings and the wish that God wants all his children to get along. But we don’t get along. Not everything will bend to God’s will because he made us with a free opinion to do anything they wanted to do. That means that they will receive punishment one way or the other and I believe God’s punishment was to let the convict suffer a sentence that isolates her humanity from ever taking an innocent life of a child.
