Don't Come Back...

In my honest opinion, this episode of Black Mirror is simply a reality check. I hate the idea of robots being as capable of an individual as I am, but that the rout that scientists and other engineers are taking now. The producers of this Black Mirror are just taking a closer look into the future.
Its horrifying to think that one day we may not be able to tell the difference between artificial intelligence and human life, which is why I think there should be limitations on what engineers shuld be able to do. Obviously, we want to create tools that make life on earth easier to all individuals inhabiting it, but the key word in this statement is “tools.”
Giving a artivially intelligent robot a personality, even if its just mimicking a deceased loved one, is disrespectful. Its disrespectful to the whole idea of life and death. I believe that commemorating a deceased loved one is apsolutely alright. Build a shrine. Listen to old voicemails. Look at old pictures. Do whatever you want to remember them. But, you don’t have to completely recreate them. That is not the same thing as remembering them, this is simply the humans incapability of letting something go.
Your loved one has passed a way. That’s terrible, and you have my support through the grieving process. What? You aren’t grieving because you had a robotc version of him shipped to you in a box? What? You have to teach him how to to act based off of your memory of your deceased loved one? Well that kindve scary, but okay… I guess.
Imagine walking down the street, seeing crowds of people, but wait… who is that? Is that my middle school teacher that died 7 years ago? No it cant be, that just has to be a lookalike. You call her name and she responds… did she fake her own deat, what the hell is going on, am I going crazy?

I don’t know about the rest of you guys, but the idea of artificial intelligence being more intelligent than me is pretty threatening. Giving them personalities, allowing them to feel. What are they going to do next, give them free will? Whats going to happen when a robot can control his own life? What of the robot decids that he doesn’t want to follow the rules for artificial intelligence, and discovers that he is much more capable of an individual than the rest o the world? Just think about it.
