Although the idea of inventing robots to perform certain tasks can be beneficial, I do not think that robots should take on the identity of humans. Robots can be useful when performing certain jobs or when they are developed to keep some people company. However, creating robots to be humans poses many problems. When Ash number 2 was created in a sense it eliminated the value of Ash number 1's life. To me this development will diminish the importance of relationships because we are no longer scared to lose someone. Everyone could have their mom or dad in their attic. So, people become easily replaceable. Yes, this could help someone grief; however I consider this selfish. Creating a similar person to one you lost will eventually not be enough just as we saw in the film. Is it fair to continue someones life in a sense just because you are not ready for them to go? What happens when the dead person does not want this to occur, so they try to prevent it before they die, but cannot do anything because it is public information. Would we consider this denying someone of their unique humanity?
Also, the moment that second Ash (or second anyone) starts having their own experiences they are no longer the person who they are clones of. Although they can be programmed for certain things if they begin to have their own consciousness how can we stop them from developing their own personalities. If they do develop further consciousness then we are forced to recognize them as humans, and if we do not recognize them as people we may be holding them slaves. I also think that making robots that look and are programmed like humans can allow for a darker side of humans to be shown. Because after all, what kind of rights do these robots hold. We must ask ourselves are they robot or are they human? Since they are technically both those this mean they must we must protect them like we protect humans. This technology can allow bad people to do bad things. What if a pedophile wants to make robot children. If they are not consider human is this immoral and could we have any say over it.
I think it can also pose a problem when people want to make robots of living people. This can create a world of distress. It could develop into allowing us to live in our own worlds where we have our own versions of everyone. We could program people however we want. This could allow for humans to be desensitized from one another. Although this technology is interesting I think we should not continue to try and make robots like humans.

I enjoyed seeing your perspective on the idea of robots and how creating them could be more troubling to our society, than beneficial. I do think that we should be cautious about creating a new person and replacing the old one (referring to Ash #1 and Ash #2). I feel like it would seriously affect people if they were to no longer be afraid to lose someone. I think it would drift them apart from what is real and what is not. Which could eventually lead to dangerous situations. At least, that is what I would assume.
You made some very good points. I especially agree with you about eliminating the value of Ash 1's life. This would make me feel as if I could easily be replaced and I would not appreciate it if someone tried to make a copy or replacement of me.
Hi Mariana!
I never really thought about Ash 2 being against Ash 1's will. That's a really interesting perspective. I agree with everything you said though. I don't think robots need to look human. If they are going to be servants, make them look like, well, robots lol. Making them look like humans only causes psychological stress on us as humans.
I totally agree with you! It would desensitize the way humans interact with one another because we are practically building our own humans and the way we want them to be. That is a good point I have not heard of. Robots need to stay robots. There is no need for them to like more and more humanlike because it will just mess up humans' minds.
