Online looking like Beyonce, but in person you look like Wendy Williams

In the documentay, Catfish, Nev Schulman has an online relationship with a woman named Megan Faccio. Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost would film Nev's process of getting to know Megan.  Nev would receive paintings from Megan's younger sister Abby and would talk on the phone with her mother, Angela. One of the many lies that Megan tells is that she writes music with her brother, Alex. Megan also claims that she bought a house that came with horses and that she received a goat and some chickens as a house warming present. Nev would begin to send her a postcards and write letters to her "house".

Nev would chat with Megan and request her to sing songs for him. Megan sends the song "All Downhill from Here" and Nev looks on YouTube and finds out that it is another girl singing. Nev would ask Megan why the songs sound exactly the same and she lies and says that its just a cover song. Now, Nev starts to become very suspicious when Angela told him that Abby was selling paintings at an art gallery across town. Nev calls the building owner and finds out that the building Angela claimed to have bought has been vacant for four years.

Nev and his friends would travel to Ishpeming, Michigan to try and meet Megan. Nev arrives at the house and finds that the postcards were still sitting in the mailbox. They would investigate the barn to look for horses and not find any. Therefore, Nev would visit the other house and Angela would open the door. Angela invites Nev in to meet her stepsons and she also tells Nev that she has Uterine Cancer. Nev talks with Abby and he ask her about her paintings and she tells him "huh, you're confusing me". Nev also asked her about her older sister Megan and she tells him that she doesn't know what she even looks like anymore. Later on, Nev received a message from Megan that says she checked herself into rehab for alcohol and that she put her farm up for sale.

The next day, Nev questions Angela on how hard it was to get everyone in one place at the same time. Angela then opens up about the whole situation and tells Nev that she does a daughter named Megan that goes to Down Farms, but she has been there for four months. Angela created 21 fake profiles and used three phones to keep up with her scheme. At the end of the film we learn that Angela does not have cancer, there is no Megan at Down Farms, and she did not know the girl in the photos. However, Nev stills keep in contact with Angela.  

My thoughts

I believe that Angela is wrong for what she did. Even when Nev arrived to her house she continued to lie. Why would you say that you have cancer ? Why would you drag your little daughter into the situation?
