We really live in an f&*ked up world; however we have to think about why are we such a messed up nation. The episode "White Bear" really proves how society has gone mad as a whole because we, even though we might not admit it, like to which gory and grotesque things we just like to make an excuse to watch it like, "Hey, she killed that little girl" or "She abducted that little girl". Not saying that it was wrong of her to do that, but who are we to choose her punishment. This might sound a little strange, but if we are going to follow through with capital punishment or long prison sentences, with certain crimes like raping multiple people, killing multiple or any type of crime that would give someone an electric chair should choose their punishment. We should ask them whether they want capital punishment or the maximum amount in prison. That way it is up to them. I am just spit balling here because there are obvious pros and cons.
Another point I want to discuss is this: is Victoria the same person? Does she differ from the Victoria that did the crime or the Victoria that sat in the chair that cried because she realized that she did something so gruesome to a little girl? YES! I am sorry, but yes she is the same person. A similar scenario: let us say a girl name Ashley finds in her boyfriend's phone text messages of him and a girl saying that they had a good time last night having sex. She confronts him about it. He says that he is sorry. NOW! Is he saying sorry because he got caught or because he knew he was wrong? Same thing with Victoria. Is she sorry because she got caught or is she sincerely sorry? I do not think so. If you are a human you are entirely able to think and be self-governing. Had we been introduced to Victoria as a villian then this debate really would not exist because people do want people to be torture so they can have something to watch. Another question arises from this as well. Are you the same person you are once you become saved? It may be very un-Christian like of me to say, but yes you are the same person. The only difference is that you have become woke and came to the realization that there is something greater in the world.

I totally agree with the point that Victoria is still the same person no matter what position she was put in no matter how cruel she got tortured she was still the same person as the one that recorded the little girl getting killed.
I don't fully agree with your second point. I don't think the boyfriend scenario is comparable. Victoria had no memory of what she did. On top of this she was scared for the little girl. Now don't get me wrong I don't think she is innocent, but its hard to tell wether she is the same person or not. She is not able to hold on to the memories and after all is that not what every single one of us is? We are a collection of memories. I think you can change who you are maybe not become a completely different separate person, but grow and change who/what you are. Her past is still a part of her, but if she is not allowed to know it then how is it really her?Obviously she is not innocent. But this is not punishment it is full on torture.
I disagree with the point on, we should let the criminal decide on what punishment they get. Did that person let the victim decide on if they wanted to live or die ? I do believe in eye for an eye and that people should get consequences. I don't care that she didn't physically touch the child, but she was there. She's guilty. This is not torture to me. It's her punishment and she deserves it.
