I have watched the tv show, Catfish, many times, however I had never watched the documentary until this past week's class. I thought it was very interesting that the host of the show Catfish was the person that got Catfish.
First, I want to discuss the documentary. I can honestly understand why Angela used this as a means to get away from her life. She is taking care of two disabled children that are not even hers. That is a huge life altering responsibility. Additionally, the husband did not seem to be supportive or helpful with the kids. For example, when the children were yelling in the house, she proceeded to go in the house. Her husband also did not seem very supportive or that he paid any attention to her. Her husband did not even know what was going on with her. I'm sure she felt lonely, unappreciated, and abandoned. Therefore, I can honestly see why chatting with Nev and having someone to pay attention to her was very stimulating. This was something she was missing in her life. While I can understand why she did what she did that, however that does not make it right. Anytime you are stealing someone's photos and creating multiple fake profiles that is stealing someone's identity. I feel that there should be some type of punishment for that. I believe it only makes it worse that Nev had his feelings very involved and you could tell in the documentary that he was genuinely hurt by the whole situation. Also, I want to commend Nev for being the subject of this documentary and letting the world see him get his heart broken. I would not be even strong enough to handle it.
Secondly, I want to discuss the fact that in today's times we have too much information on the internet especially Facebook. I found out the other day that Facebook evens labels their users' political views which is very crazy to me. I think that this is an invasion of privacy, however,r can we really be mad when we all check the yes, I agree box on the Terms of Conditions page without even reading it. Many times we readily post our pictures, posts, and even location of social media sites without even thinking about the fact of how much information we put out there about ourselves. We never really think about the fact that someone could be using our pictures and even life to Catfish someone.

It's pretty sickening to think about how much of your information is out there if you've ever owned a Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat to some degree. Most every ad you see on Google or wherever is an ad targeted at you from the information that you've put out on those apps and sites, along with some other data like what you like to buy on Amazon. Basically it's too late to take it all back and there's currently nothing we're doing to stop it.
