Good Ol White Bear

Okay, the episode of White Bear was very weird at the beginning. I would have never imagined the meaning of it without the ending. When we first watched it, I thought that this one again, had something to do with being attached to your phone. Really thought that it was supposed to be a lesson of how you need to be aware of your surroundings and not stay on your phone recording when something is happening simply for “Likes”. I know this can be a reoccurring problem in some situations, especially during a fight. And most of the time, when a fight is not fair. But as it progressed it seemed to be like they put it out to be. The people were hypnotized by the image on the tv that played a key role in everything. When we finally got to the end, I was really in disbelief. In disbelief of everything really. I could not believe that that woman, who seemed like a good person, would be capable of allowing her fiancé to do something so terrible. It is hard to believe that two people would be capable of such a terrible act to a young girl that had a lot of life in front of her. Even though the woman took no part in the actual torture, she is just as guilty for recording it and not doing anything at all to help the helpless girl.  I think one could argue that the real culprit is the man because he did the torturing to the girl, but the woman is just as guilty for not trying to help but instead record and watch. We later learn that the two get caught and the fiancé ends up killing himself in jail and the woman has to suffer by thinking that she is going to get killed and getting no help by the bystanders that are on their phones recording everything that is happening. When she runs the whole course, because that is what this essentially is, she gets to a stage where she is explained to her what is going in and why. They have to tell her why because she no longer remembers what she did which I assume is because of the constant shocking to her head. When we first asked if we thought it was a fair punishment, I thought no because after all she no longer remembers what she did. Then, however, I think it is. Towards the end we see that every day they do it, they mark the day off on the calendar, so we know that for a least a month they’ve been doing this to her and just like she is suffering, the family of the little girl suffer day in and day out from what she was an accomplice to.  So, the pain she is going through everyday can be compared to the pain the parents have to go through.
