iDroid

The iDroid presentation was actually very interesting and entertaining. You guys, if you're reading this, did a great job! Bringing in a preemie baby was actually really cool but I can't be the only one who thought that was creepy. The fact that the majority of us passed the baby around with such care as if it were actually a baby is mind baffling. It could've been on instinct or it could've been off the fact that we were trying to be respectful of other peoples property. No matter the reason, the doll was creepy but a great touch for the presentation. I think a website where it is easily accessible to search and scroll for artificial intelligence one would like to purchase is a tool that can definitely help those that are really particular on what exactly they want to buy. Although, I don't think many people would actually go through all the extra work on research when they are thinking about getting a robot. Don't get me wrong, I think it is genius to have all the information and links and choices in one single place to make it super easy but its as easy to go on amazon and type in what you are looking for and choosing what seems to be the best option. It may just be me saying this because I don't ever wish to have any of the types of robots that were presented. Also, the problem iDroid was supposed to be fixing is also a long stretch. For example, the problem is over-population, and the babies were presented. If a couple can't have kids than the concern of that couple adding to the number of the population then all the baby is doing is fixing the emotional distress of the couple and not the problem of over-populating the earth. I could see how the 'life partners," as you call them, can minimize the number of children added to the world by the possibility of a child never being conceived. But is it very likely that the average human will prefer a robot over a robot? Also, in the case that these robots are SO human-like that there isn't much of a difference between the robot and a real human spouse, won't the population of robots also begin to over-populate the world? We can't predict the future so how can we be so sure that in the future these robots wont want to have life as a human and begin to go into the work field and what not, and this is also an issue as it is that there isn't enough jobs for the massive numbers of people in society today. Now will they have to compete against a Super Human?
BUT DON'T GET ME WRONG, I LOVED YOUR IDEA AND PROJECT (:
