feed the hungry

The project, "helping those who need it" is a project designed to help the hungry. Their concern was the food that restaurants throw out at the end of the day. They wanted to make a refrigerated vending machine that housed the left over foods. Each box would contain a meal, a fork and spoon, and a bottle of water. Hungry people can go to a food bank and obtain a card that allows them one meal a day from this vending machine. The card also gains one to three dollars a day that can be used at any restaurant or store. The idea behind this is good, but their are many concerns that I have come up with. One main concern is, only one adult per family gets a card. Children have to split the meals with their parents and other siblings. The reason why they did not want to give children a card too is because they did not know if they would have enough money to put on their cards too. I believe that the adults should have a card that will continuously get money and the children should get a card that only allows them to get a meal. The card for children will not have money on it. This will allow each person to get one fresh meal a day with no worries of running out of money  for every other adult that has a card. Another concern that I came up with is someone stealing a card. The card has a picture, an ID number and can only work at one specific vending machine, but there is no one their to monitor if the right person is using the card. I know it would be hard to hire someone to stand and guard the vending machine, so they should put a fingerprint scanner on each machine. Each person who scans their card will have to also scan their fingerprint to make sure it is the right person using the ID.  I believe this will fix any problems with stolen IDs. Hopefully restaurants will be willing to have homeless and hungry people stand in lines in the back of their establishment. Getting the restaurants to agree to this may be a problem. Showing statistics and other information on the hungry and homeless may help the management agree to this. In the end, I believe this project could work, if some of the concerns are dealt with.
