Pa$$ing
the BUC is an interesting trading system that can be seen as something useful
for college students who are finically trouble, especially when books are very
costly. I agreed that the cost of purchasing “required” books for your class is
outrageous and feels like a swindle. It put more students in stress than its needed
when the cost of tuition is so high and it is a struggle to pay for the tuition
fees. I feel the app should be introduce to all incoming freshman that are new
to college. They are young and new to how to spend wisely while in college.
Incoming freshman will feel the need to buy or rent ridicules expensive books,
and finally will realized that the books they got will only be used only once
or twice for the whole semester. I was in that familiar situation. I was told
to purchase books for my incoming classes early before the semester begin. I
spend approximately $600 dollars in my freshman year on used books that I thought
were needed for my classes. I only used one book for one class, and the book
was only used for doing homework questions. I felt scammed and vowed not to buy
books too early and only ask the professor ahead of time if a book is needed or
not in his or her class.
The
app is a good alternative to bargain with other students for books or for tutoring.
Normally, college books are used for a limited time for one or two courses and
after that are deemed useless. The app would be a handy tool to trade a book
for something else for the next class and it is cost effective. The need for a
tutor is high on demand in the major where I am in. It is hard to meet other
people who have the time to tutor for you, but the app would help find the
people that are a willing help you, with a price of course. The problem that I see
for this bargaining app is the possible costs and the goods that are offered.
It is possible that the books you wanted are scarce and will be sold out very quickly,
prompting you to purchase the book on your own from another source. There will might
be people who just want to sell their items for cash and the cost might be more
expansive than it originally was. The transaction methods are risky since the person
you are trading with only shows the icon of which university the student attends.
Meeting in a safe designation is the surest way of safety, but it is not guarantee.
Overall,
the app is useful for those who need books cheaply. In Christian Brother University,
it is a small campus so this app will be a lot easier to find buyers or sellers
and get to know them better to do business again in the future. I know there are
people who have books that are just waiting to get rid of them through selling
and people that need them will be willing to pay at a cheap cost.
