The Tale of a Lonely and Confused House Wife

Is social media bad? No, social media is not bad, because it allows people to connect with others all around the world. However, somethings that people decide to do with their social media accounts are not necessarily good. Catfish is an interesting and unintentionally funny documentary that tells how social media can be used in a not so good manner. It is about how Angela deceived Nev into believing she was someone she was not. Although she lied about her name, how she looked, how old she was, etc., her interaction with Nev and the feelings she had for Nev were real. It was clear when Nev and his brother was leaving the beach house that Angela had some serious feelings for him and did not want him to leave. Even though Angela was absolutely wrong for deceiving Nev, but I do understand where she was coming from. She was just trying to find a way to escape her current situation. Angela is stay at home mom that has no time to be out of the house, because she has to care for two handicapped adult children 24/7 and an elementary aged girl. She feels that she is trapped and turns to her different Facebook profiles to free her. She met Nev online and with her Meagan profile began to have what seemed like a relationship. I feel that Angela felt as if she actually was in a relationship with Nev. There was nothing wrong with her wanting to escape from reality, but how she did it was not the right way to escape. I think that she should be thankful that her actions did not have worst consequences than it did. In my opinion she was essentially cheating on her husband. She was emotionally cheating which would have made physically cheating easier. I think that this is a perfect example of how social media helps to aid in any form of cheating. Is social media bad? No, but, as one of my classmates said, if Nev would have been completely ok with starting a relationship with Angela, after finding out she was the one he had been talking to, she would have left her husband and family. All Angela really did was lie, which is what all people do. I think that most people would rank Angela’s lie as one of the worst types of lies, because her lie could have unraveled her whole family. I think that Angela is a good person with a good heart but was just lonely and looking for a way of escape. Instead of being mad and upset at the end of the movie, I felt sad for Angela and just wanted to give her a hug.

First of all, thanks for the shoutout in your post lol. I was the person who you quoted. Your gif is a great choice and very representative of the topic on which you speak about. I really felt like Angela was a sad person who was reaching for a way to remove herself from the reality around her. I completely agree that if she wanted a better life for herself, maybe some deeper searching could've been explored? I know that with how her life is set up that's probably very difficult, but sometimes if something is very important to you, you will work that much harder to find it, ya know?

Angela really need it to escape from her present world. Sadly, she had to look out for her husband's children. I agree with you, in a sense that this was not the right way to do it. Is fine if she created her "world" without involving innocent people. Technology is an essential tool for communication. However, this was an unexpected end for everyone. On the other hand, sometimes it doesn't end well. For example, online predators etc,. I really feel sorry for her daughter because she was dragged into her lies.

I do feel bad for her to some degree and I am glad that she did not have worse consequences, however I feel as though she should have had something worse happen to understand how big of a deal her lie was. Yes, she cried a lot and she said that she was wrong however she was a huge liar and I do not know if I could trust someone like that again.
