College Central Review

First, I want to start by saying I LOVED THEIR LOGO AND MISSION STATEMENT! The logo was bright and memorable and also contained a target which tied to the mission statement. I really enjoyed it. This project was fun because it was relatable. It was a great idea to actually interview people on campus and record their answers for part of the presentation. The people interviewed was a very diverse group, which is kind of funny because colleges love showing how many minority groups they can fit on one brochure. The people interviewed listed many problems that they face on campus such as:
  • Extended parking lot
  • Not knowing about events
  • Difficult to meet up for study groups
  • An excessive amount of work
  • To expensive
There were more I just cannot remember all of them. The website covered a variety of these problems and I really enjoyed it because they were able to fit so much information onto one platform which was very ambitious. The website and app offered features such as events where you could see everything going on and around campus. There was the option for organizations to register and add events and also for regular people to post any events that were missed. Another option was the book exchange. While I think it has potential I do not think it was completely thought out. Another example of this is one of the most common problems people complained about was how the food available on campus was not good enough to be as expensive as it is. Because this was the most common problem I assumed that the website and app would both focus closely on this issue. They included a food tab that listed places near campus that offered discounts for students, however, this information was not elaborated on until the question and answer section. This did not really affect how much I enjoyed their presentation. Not everyone can address every detail in a demo.
Most of the presenters did an awesome job of knowing the information and not having to rely on reading directly off of the slides. They also included a bigger purpose for their app which is helping to relieve overall stress levels of the students. I like that it is campus specific. It gives it a more personal touch to the app and also gives it a specific demographic to focus on which could allow the app and website to be even better,

I loved the interview of the people on campus, too! I thought it was really creative and brought so many problems that students face that is relative to everyone. I also really liked the book exchange idea, but I agree with you in that it was not completely thought out. However, it did not diminish from the creativity and good job that everyone did!

The interviews on campus were literally my favourite part. That made the project even more relatable. I also loved the logo and slogan. They created a great brand which I also highly admired.
