Catfishy

In the movie we are taken through a story of how the show Catfish came to be. Nev develops an online relationship with a family that is not who he thinks. Angela takes it way too far by finding pictures of other people, and faking conversations over text and on the phone to deceive Nev. She successfully does this until she starts sending him recordings of the daughter singing. Nev starts to get a little sketchy so he looks into the songs. He found that they were someone else's songs that were sent to him, not who he thought. As he digs in deeper to find out who this family really is by traveling to the house to finally "meet" them.

After arriving at the house he quickly learns that Angela is the one who was behind all of this. I really found an appreciation in how Nev handled the situation. I thought he would be super angry and try to get even or go off on Angela, but instead he went to her and sat her down to talk about it. Although Angela broke down in front of him and started crying, I still felt no sympathy for her. I think she let her insecurities get the best of her by faking who she was. It really showed how insecure she was once the audience found out that she was the one texting and chatting with Nev all along and pretending to be a model. It is also wrong that Angela brought her child into her lie. It is one thing for her to pretend to be someone else, but lying about her children and husband is something that should have never happened. I think once she started to develop an actual relationship with Nev she should have stopped and told him the truth. That would have saved the whole situation, and she would not have betrayed her husband. Whether he showed it or not, Nev probably felt mistreated and betrayed, as would any normal person. The final outcome of the movie was very positive because even though they were sad and upset about the situation, they were still able to make light of the situation. I do not think it is okay that it took Angela that long to realize she can be more than someone hiding behind a screen, but I'm glad she was able to finally sell her paintings and be successful with her talents.
