Could This Happen Someday?
"White Bear" posed me with an thoughtful question. Could this someday happen in the society of America? I pondered on this thought and still answering as I'm writing this. So far, I have come to the conclusion,Yes! it possibly could happen . As crazy as this episode/movie seemed, I honestly feel this could happen in America if possible .I know its illegal ,but if all the legal rules were gone on cruel and unusual punishments things like this will happen. I feel as people of America we get very emotional and upset when horrible crimes happen to children or teenagers. The woman in the storyline was a partner in crime in what we consider as one of the cruelest crimes ever. She kidnapped and tortured an innocent little girl to death. I know I wasn't the only one that could not help but to think of the Casey Anthony trial. Even though she is presumed by the court as innocent, most people today still feel she is guilty. Think of all the emotions and hatred many Americans feel towards her. People threw things at her , bad mouthed her outside court, and ultimately wanted her killed. She now has to live secretly just to be protected from people that feel she is guilty.Another person that committed a horrible crime is George Zimmerman. People still to this day want him killed and hate him. I asked myself "if this was Casey Anthony how would I feel about this movie?" Honestly,I feel bad to admit it but I would feel like it is okay to treat her this way in a sense. I know a lot of others who believe she is guilty, would feel the same way too. I'm not saying I would feel great about doing this as cruel and repetitive as the people in the movie. Im saying she should "get a taste of her own medicine" or suffer some type of punishment (not a punishment similar to this movie though.) Moving on,If we knew more of the backstory before we had gotten introduced to the main character,we wouldn't feel so bad about her situation. We sympathized with her throughout the whole movie and then they "drop the bomb on us." It was like you were stuck asking yourself should you still feel bad for her or is this what she deserved. We don't see her as a monster like we see Casey Anthony or George Zimmerman. The world we live in today if we took a poll, many will vote to have something horrible happen to those two.

That's definitely the question that I have about both White Bear and Be Right Back. It seems like it could definitely be possible in our future that things could turn out there. As a society we seem to lack empathy. I feel as though punishing someone over and over again is ridiculous no matter what they did. One crime should get one punishment. Also, I think our connection with her definitely was part of the reason we felt so bad for her. We spent the whole time rooting for her to survive, and then they "drop the bomb" as you said.
Personally, I do not think we, as a society, are capable of something as inhuman as this. While there is still quite a lot of ignorance in the world, society is progressively becoming more "awake." I mean to say that with all the extremely progressive movements, such as LGBT rights and Black Lives Matter, humanity seems to be slowly moving away from such barbaric ways of thinking that could lead to the creation of such a shocking park as the one seen in the film.
