Rehab vs Trust

I think that criminals need a system where they can be rehabilitaed and made into better people. Right now, the criminal justice system is not doing much to help the criminals get better. They are put in jail and not much is being done to improve them as people. This is an issue. However, I feel as though the bigger issue is that these criminals will no longer be trusted by society. Trust is something so hard to gain and so easy to lose. Once trust is lost there is really no way to clear that from the heads of people. This is the case with criminals. After commiting a crime, like stealing for example, a criminal is often assumed to be liable to do it again. This assumption is not neccesarily wrong it is just part of the consequence for commiting a crime.

While watching White Bear I thought the eye for eye punishment was very elaborate and creative. I think that doing it more than once is unneccesary. I think that making a criminal go through it once and then putting them in jail and letting them think about it would be more efficient. However, I think there should be an element of rehabilitation and not just punishing for the sake of it. I do not agree that people will be as excited and happy to participate in a criminal justice park. Especially kids, I think there will not be a lack in audience but I dont think it would be a setting like it was on the film.

Black Mirror is an interesting idea. One of the quotes that stood out to me from the interview we saw today was that there are several questions raised in each episode and with those questions we as audience are forced to think about different solutions. For example, in the White Bear episode, the questions were about true justice and whether a person is the same before and after commiting a crime. I think these questions are very important and or criminal justice system is not addressing them as well as they should be. The show makes me think of stuff that I normally do not think of. The ideas are so complex and so possible that we should all atleast be aware of them. Also, the orgin of the name is super deep and clever, it makes me like it even more than I already do.
