does fault exist

“Catfish” tells a story that is almost difficult to digest morally. I can’t really tell myself who to put the blame on, or even what I am blaming. Yes, Angela did lie and yes Nev was a victim of that lie. But both had circumstances that have to be taken into consideration when analyzing the situation. Nev was caught in emotions, and acted on the emotions in a way he could only see, almost through tunnel vision. Angela, although was in the wrong in one sense, was also acting on her emotions and there could also be a case of tunnel vision in her situation too. A lot of things are still unsure on all of her circumstances, considering her truth telling record. However, it is certain that she has many responsibilities and a lack of extensive social interaction opportunities. This in turn could more than explain why she did what she did, maybe not all aspects, but definitely reaching out online for human interaction in any way she could. Angela did what she did and I think she might have found herself in so deep, that there was no way but to continue the lie. Once again, she was in the wrong. The hole she found herself in was dug by her, but it was still a hole she was in. One of the questions in class asked was if what Angela was doing was cheating. I wanted to hear both sides before I made a definite decision, but I was pretty set on the beginning that it was cheating. I couldn’t really see how it wasn’t. How was what Angela shared with Nev not cheating? She was emotionally intimate with him, and if the emotional side isn’t enough of a case than the attention she gave to him should be. Angela understandably needed more human interaction, and even more understandably sought it out in others. I just don’t think the way she sought it out is justifiably fidelity on her part. If you look at the situation and consider it lying to Nev about who she was, which it was (She clearly is not the girl from the pictures and doesn’t have an artist little sister and doesn’t sing and write songs), then you should be able to see how doing this with Nev was cheating on her husband. In both instances she was lying, either to someone else or to herself.

I think it is completely unfair to Nev because even after they found out that she was the liar she continued to lie to make them not as mad at her she literally lied about have cancer so that they would not get to mad at her and she continued to lie about Megan even though she never existed and never will exist and it is just ridiculous that she would continue to cover up her lies with her other lies to make her look better it was just sad.

i believe that it is unfair for what new had to go through. Angela had continued to lie to Nev, she had lied about having cancer to make Nev and his friends feel sorry for her. She also lied about having a daughter in a rehab center.
