When Nev, Nev's brother, and their friend went to go see the family I was so concerned for them that they were coming to be kidnapped or be captured or something. However, when Nev figured out what was the truth and about the family and who Angela/Megan truly was, Nev said that he was not scared of Angela and all I could think was "RUN!" When Nev confronted Angela and was talking to her about how she did everything I was shocked at how Nev was so curious to know everything, He was so curious to the point of asking Angela to talk to him as Megan. That I think was the point that caused him to have such a negative attitude at the end and beginning of the movie. What was a twist is that Angela admitted that she was wrong and changed everything and used the internet for promoting her talent of painting. This seemed to me of a true moral lesson of trying everything wrong first before one can do good.

Everything Wrong Before Good
I personally have never heard of catfishing before watching this movie and to my surprise, it was something that was not anything new to me. I have always heard of people creating fake accounts with fake identities. This situation with Nev and Angela was something that was so extreme that I had no idea what to think or even what to comprehend. This movie started out with Nev being very angry and the true reactions of the boys who were recording every moment of Nev through this adventure of the mystery of Abby. This situation started out with the kind friendship between Abby and Nev which seemed very innocent, however, when the relationship started to grow it started to creep me out more and more. I have always been very suspicious of anyone on the internet because my family has always preached that to me. The lying of Angela throughout the movie kept getting more extreme and the more it was is was so easy to believe it, however, it was becoming so much that it was hard believing that it was true. The stories of Megan and her talking to Nev as far as I could tell was very out of the ordinary. I guess I am looking back at the beginning of the movie as though o have already seen the ending, however over the movie I remember having this unsettling feeling in the bottom of my stomach.

I think that one thing we didn't really address in class was the "creepy factor" that Angela displayed. It was pretty haunting how Angela began speaking in "Megan"'s voice. I think that not only is Angela a very sad person, but maybe also slightly deranged. I think that although we feel sad for Angela and she ultimately does change her course of doing the wrong things to using her access to the internet to truly present her true self, she needs help. I think her speaking to Nev was a cry for help.
You make the point of "trying everything wrong first before one can do good" to justify how Angela's actions in the film eventually led her down a better path, using the digital world for the sake of the selling of her paintings. I think that Aristotle as well as myself would disagree with you. Virtue ethics is all about the character of the one making a decision, rather than the consequences (utilitarianism) or principle behind the action (deontology). This also requires an understanding of the telos, or ultimate end goal or objective, of the action. In Angela's case, it is clear that she was going to great lengths to lie and deceive Nev into thinking she and her family was were something that they were not. I don't think that this is in line with any of Aristotle's virtues. Plus, I don't think she had a clear "end goal" with this either. She obviously didn't plan on being caught, but that's exactly what Nev did. Thus, by nature of virtue ethics, Angela's actions are not justified and can be considered immoral. To say that she (or anyone) has to have first done wrong before she can do good seems in opposition to Aristotle's philosophy.
