Justice Park Gone Wrong
In the beginning of the movie, White Bear, I was really confused as to what was going on. The only thing I could compare it to was the movie, The Purge. The idea behind The Purge is, one day a year, there are no laws and anyone could do anything that they wanted. The "law free" day is supposed to limit crime throughout the year. According to the movie, crime rate was at an all time low because of the purge. Most people in the movie set out to kill people and hunt people down and this one aspect was really disturbing to me. I saw a similar schema in the White Bear. Victoria is being chased around and hunted by the workers again and again each day. She is repeatedly mentally tortured, but never remembers it due to the electrical device they put on her head every night. I honestly sympathize Victoria. Yes, I believe she should be punished for her actions but, no, I do not believe she should be tortured. Victoria does not recall videoing the little girl because of the electrical device that is put on her head every night. Therefore, she cannot learn that her actions were wrong and cannot take responsibility for them. The whole idea behind our justice system today is to make people take responsibilities for their actions and learn from them. If, as a society, they torture people that commit a crime so bad that they are forced to forget their own actions, how can we say we are being just? Justice is a hard thing to define, but to me, justice means to find a way to punish someone who has done wrong by being morally right to both parties. What they are doing to Victoria is not just for anyone. They have given her no voice and no rights in this world. She has no way of sticking up for herself and no way to fight for her freedom. How can this society believe they are being just and doing the right thing if they have not even given her a chance to explain. In our society, people who commit crimes are sat in front of judge and a jury and have a chance to speak. They have a chance to fight for their lives and their freedom. If found guilty, the are not brutally tortured, they are sent to jail. I am not saying our jails are the best thing for punishing someone, but it is a lot better than torturing someone. So, in the end, I do not believe that Victoria is being treated in a morally right or just way.

I think that the comparison to "The Purge" was very creative and made sense with "White Bear." There is that near-future dystopia element to both of these films and they both have messages that could be viable in today's society. Your argument for Victoria not to be tortured is compelling as well. I think that comparing her experience to today's legal system makes a lot of sense. She never got to have her day in court and a fair trial. We know that she is guilty, but everyone can appeal in court, just like you said. I think that if she was to experience this only once and rehabilitate, it could be more effective. This could go a little against your argument, but I believe it could be an answer to the question you raise about our punitive system currently.
When I first looked at you title, I thought that is said Jurassic Park Gone Wrong and I started to think that how people have just created this world for something(someone) that is not like them and has to be contained. So in the end, this will never work for the contained can not be contained nor be stable in the end.
